Here in Europe woman's rights have only really progressed since the later half of the last century, just need to keep pushing and changing attitudes and you have to engage with them to do that, they may be a few decades behind but you have to adjust the mindset of people on a generational basis. It would help if we could move people away from primitive religious belief's though which often have the most horrific views of women. I think Muhammad kept slaves and thought it was ok to rape slaves that's hardly a good foundation for a religion.

This is like assigning the big bad wolf the duty of protecting the barn, or Saudia Arabia as the head of the women's rights committee.
Just this month. They arrested and brought back a women called Dina Ali from the Philippines because she wanted to flee from her abusive family. They also arrested another women in the airport because she asked about Dina on the day they brought her back.
It's a mess. Maybe Saudia Arabia is trying to reform and fix how the government treats women. But I think what happened here is that Saudia Arabia a a lot connections in the UN and wanted secure any high position they can and now here we are.

It's more like giving the big bad wolf a small desk job without power in the barn protection agency.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Maybe. But it's still well known that the big bad wolf ate little red riding's grandmother and forced the little girl to wear a red scarf.

And someone thought that there was no possible way to make the UN even more useless!
Well stupider things have happened like bush and Obama getting the noble peace prize among other things
Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

I'm pretty confident Sweden voted yes. The government has refused to confirm or deny if they voted yes, and that in itself is quite clear evidence.

According to Wikipedia (link below), they do the following: "CSW has been described as the UN organ promoting gender equality and the empowerment of women. Every year, representatives of Member States gather at United Nations Headquarters in New York to evaluate progress on gender equality, identify challenges, set global standards and formulate concrete policies to promote gender equality and advancement of women worldwide."
