Forums - Gaming - The lack of continuous chatter about the PS4 Pro should teach Microsoft about scorpio

The best looking and best gaming experience for multi-plats will be on PC.

You are almost correct.  The best looking and fastest display refresh will be on that 1% of PCs that have that capability.  Most PC gamers will have the same or similar experience that people will have on the PS4.

Yeah, Steam statistics says no.

About 37% percentage of those who participated in that survey with DirectX 12 cards; in use for last month.. will most definetly get a better experience than you would on PS4/Xbox One in most multiplatform games. Basically anything with a GTX750Ti and above will offer that.

I said that only 1% of the users have a powerful enough system that runs 4k 60fps on max settings - Thus creating the "BEST" looking version of the games.  having a PC that runs it better than a console wasn't the intended point of the comment.

People comment often that the best version is on PC.  While that is true that the "best" version is available on PC, the number of actual users with that capability will be small in compared to the 90+ million xb1/ps4 users.

It is near the end of the end....

Sony fans would have liked the PS4 Pro to have power equal to Scropio even if the cost was higher.

I would not like that. I don't presume to speak for Sony fans in general though, and neither should you.
If/when I need a replacement for my PS4, a $100 or $50 disparity between Slim and Pro is about as much as I'd be willing to pay for a performance boost for Gen 8 games.

Much of the chatter about Scorpio has been related to speculation. How much people will talk about it after it's been released remains to be seen.
You can think that MS are doing it better. Just don't pass off your premature opinion as fact, or generalize what people want.

Sony fans spent numerous years boasting about power, then Sony made a midgen upgrade and it underwhelmed. And now Sony fans are stressing power isn't important.

Again, if PS4 Pro was doing a better job at 4K or 60 fps it would get more attention.

I'm not giving an opinion, Scorpio has better specs than PS4 Pro. It will likely do a better job at improving old content as well. While PS4 was superior hardware over the X1. These aren't opinions.

The goal for this generation should've been to nail 1080 60 fps for all games accounted for before the end of the gen. Microsoft swung for the fences, just to say they beat Sony at something.

A machine that can actually achieve 4K on current AAA games is better capable of 1080p/60 fps as well.

I don't feel like MS aimed high with Scorpio specs, but more like Sony half assed it. If you're gonna make a box to push 4K, it should do 4K. And it doesn't take a mega powerful GPU to do that.

Power was never important, but this is the only generation where the most powerful streamline console won a generation. Of course that game secondary to the price and games that came with it, but the power only added insult to injury. Thats the only place where Microsoft can fight back. If thats all they've got then so be it. Its about to get worse. It might help them in the states, but elsewhere...not so much.

Here's the question... what is your point?

You're essentially just boasting Xbox can't beat Playstation, which I think all off agree. MS could make better hardware and announce many exclusive, they still won't get ahead of PS4. Quite frankly, that's okay as long as Xbox gets a strong userbase.

Let me tell your a story about PSP. It was a great piece of hardware for the times, a lot of good games, but it never had a chance of beating DS no matter Sony attempted. Regardless, it had a strong userbase and even had a successor.

Moral of the story, as long as Xbox One can maintains steady sales then it will be fine.

Microsoft can announce some exclusives compared to Sony. Microsoft has never outshown Sony in exclusives. They would need all the third party they can get just to mirror Sony's first party on a good day. The Xbox One is doing fine, but Microsoft wants to sell on Sony's level which probably wont happen if Microsoft cannot gain worldwide appeal. Phil Spencer knows that the only way to truly beat Sony is to secure new IP's. Sony creates hot new IP every gen and that has always been Microsofts internal achilles heel.

One thing that I don't get is why people keep asking for 1080p/60fps or 4k/60 fps? FPS is not a standard and that's that. I would much rather have a gorgeous adventure title at 1080p/30fps than a mediocre looking one at 4k/1080p.

Not every game has to be rock solid 60fps. The time when photo-realism at 60fps is a standard is still a couple of generations away. Hell, maybe at that point generations wont even be relevant anymore. While I love a solid 60fps in a side-scrolling Mario title, I don't mind that Horizon is locked at 30. It doesn't hurt the gameplay in any way, shape or form.

Did you just say 4k/1080 or do you mean 4k or 1080p? Anyway, the point is that we should be pushing tech incrementally. We cant even get to 1080p 60fps and were already ready to push 4k before more houses are ready for it just to say it was done. Sony realized it wasnt in their best interest to push 4k so soon, so they went with cherboarding as an alternative. It doesnt push things too far and gives an alternative where its necessary.

I meant 4k or 1080p. What I mean is that no matter how powerfull a console is, it can still have better visuals at 1080p/30fps than 1080p/60fps, and many titles will probably benefit from it. Not all of course (twitch shooters say hy) but many of them do (adventure titles say hy).

At this point I feel like the goal is keeping xbox a relevant platform in a changing market. You don't have to be Playstation to achieve that.

I don't believe there is anything, realistically, MS can do to make Xbox as successful as Playstation. But so what?

If they are still finding success in the console arena and perhaps in PC gaming, great. If Xbox can't find worldwide appeal, maybe they will get some with Windows 10.

If you had merely said "Scorpio has better specs than PS4 Pro", we wouldn't be having this conversation. But you said that their stab at a midgen refresh was better. Price of the systems is an important factor for how well their attempt at a mid gen refresh pans out.

This is the internet, no matter how carefully I choose my words there is always room for a pointless conversation!

The midgen refresh is essentailly better specs, its a premium console for those who want more polished games. With that said, PS4 Pro feels like a missed opportunity to me. Overall Scropio feels like a huge upgrade and I'm considering getting one. While the PS4 just isn't a big enough upgrade in my eyes, I'm sticking my OG PS4 and if I need to replace it I will lean towards PS4 Slim.
