Forums - Nintendo - Maybe Nintendo Having Just 1 Mario Kart Title [MK8 Deluxe] for Switch is a Good Thing?

Since the Switch is going to be the only console in town for Nintendo for the forseeable future (they're not going to bother with a new MK for the 3DS), you can bank on MK9 coming out probably towards the 2019 holiday season.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

considering how MK games have released 3 years apart from one another in like the past 15 years I think it's obvious that they could have had MK9 ready for this year, but that would have come at the cost of :

-no ARMS;

-no MK8D;

-no other games possibly in the works that aren't announced yet;

So they decided to split the team to work on multiple projects so that there would be less droughts in the lineup, imho an F-Zero made by the MK team is very likely to happen in 2018/2019...

I'm going to stick with my theory. It leads to less disappointment if they do not release an F-Zero game.

I mean, generally speaking MK9 would generate far more hype than a new F-Zero, so the option that leads to less disappointment is the latter unless you want to be selfish :p

Well ever since 2005 we've gotten a Mario Kart game in some form every 3 years

Mario Kart DS - 2005
Mario Kart Wii - 2008
Mario Kart 7 - 2011
Mario Kart 8 - 2014
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe -2017

So I could see a 'Mario Kart 9' sometime in 2020

Nintendo usually develops a single entry for the franchise on each new console, and so far they had to cover both home consoles and Handhelds. Since they're going in the direction of unifying the library on single system I can see this trend change from now on.

I'm fine with that. I think it'd be okay as well to update deluxe within the life cycle of the switch.
the next racing game from nintendo needs to be F-zero, wave race or diddy kong racing 2, helmed by a worthy studio . mario kart can take a generation off.

Agree.

I think it would be good if they held off on MK9 for awhile. MK8 Deluxe can hold people over for awhile longer I feel, so there's no need to have a sequel happen so soon.

They should just give MK8D free to those who had to suffer the WiiU, and it is easily done by checking who purchased the DLC.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

the battle mode is now perfect, and they have not denied the possibility of more DLC, so why the need for a new game? i would gladly have a single Mario Kart game with over double the usual courses than multiple smaller titles

I've been saying since at least 2015 that Nintendo should simply provide improved ports of their required franchises to the Switch; it just makes sense.

First, games like MK8 and SSB for the Wii U are absolutely superb games that would be exceptionally difficult to improve upon. Adding to that, they were exclusive to a failed console that guaranteed the majority of people would not have gotten to play them.

Offering improved ports provides awesome games at minimal cost while freeing up the resources devoted to those games to go towards something else, be it a neglected franchise or a new IP. Also, I'm pretty sure Sakurai needs a break from SSB lest he lose his mind entirely.

I personally hope Nintendo ports over most of the gems from the Wii U, even though I own the majority of them. Playing on the go would be awesome, and it's still a crime to me that some of those games were played by so few.

Basically, the uniquely bad sales of the Wii U makes ports far more viable and welcome than they usually would be.

No, because I want to buy a Mario Kart game for the Switch
