Ok, so this may not be an extremely bold prediction but lets take a look at shipments of previous Nintendo systems after their first full quarter.

DS shipments as of March 31, 2005-5.27 million (2.40m this quarter)

Wii shipments as of March 31, 2007-5.84 million (2.65m this quarter)

3DS shipments as of June 30, 2011-4.32 million (0.71m this quarter)

Wii U shipments as of March 31, 2013-3.45 million (0.39m this quarter)

Nintendo originally planned on shipping 2 million units of Switch by the end of March but some reports state that they bumped that up to 2.5 million and based on NPD+Media Create sales 2.5m seems more likely than 2m.

That would mean Switch needs to ship another 2.5 million this quarter putting it right around DS & Wii in the same time frame. Will it be done?

It's within the realm of possibility. I'm predicting that the Switch will ship 14 million by the end of the fiscal year, but I don't know about 5 million by June 30th. The 3DS only shipped 4.32 million, and that got to 17 million by the end of its first full fiscal year.

On the other hand, the 3DS sold really badly in that quarter before the price cut, so... I'm gonna tentatively say yes to this prediction.

Most likely yes. For sure though it'll sell over 5m in July. Cause that's when Splatoon 2 hits. But I see the 5m at the end of June after E3 tbh.

Nintendo has to maintain the momentum with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms, and providing supply of course.
I really think a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Bundle can go a long way.

i dont see a MK8D bundle until the fall

kinda misleading title, i thought it was facts not a prediction but it's very likely to happen and it's more linked to if nintendo can produce that many units in time.

Yeah I think it is very possible. Earlier today I was thinking the Switch will definitely be over 5 million sold by the time Splatoon hits, so by end of June I could see it right around 5 million.

Any decent bundle would be enough for many people to get a Switch. Why do you think they sold so many 3ds's? They had a load of special editions and bundles
