Forums - Gaming - Will GTA5 become the best-selling Non Mobile game of all time?

Main~craft says hello. <3 That shit is so weird and souless, yet it's still probably the best selling game ever. It even became generationless, much like a service.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Minecraft split is about 23% PC, 35% console, 42% mobile

non-mobile version account for ~70m of all sales.

Has good chances, only what could prevent is earlier GTA VI release.

WTF? Mobile takes up that much?

Okay here are the PC stats:
https://minecraft.net/en-us/stats/
26 million

So if the percentage is correct Minecraft sold 100 Million all together counting mobile, console, and PC. I feel like that is too low.

Yes it will.
Imo it has already become the best selling (non mobile) game of all time because back in the day Wii Sports was bundled with every Wii for 3 years so consumers were forced to get the game even though they would never play it.

I think we have to. Tetris had to have around 50% on mobile phones, while everyone kid I know plays Mincraft on mobile phones.

Really? I don't know a single person that plays it on their mobile phone... it's always PC or console

While I agree about Tetris being count as mobile, isn't the majority of Minecraft sales come from the PC version? I don't think it made much difference.

In most regions Mobile is a bigger market than either PC or Console.

Consoles + PC marketshare for minecraft compared to mobile (June 2016):

NA - 59%

SA - 62%

EU - 64%

Africa - 56%

Asia - 49%

On average that's 58% (though not all regions are weighted equally so this isn't entirely accurate.) But using that figure Minecraft has sold 62 Million Units on PC and Console combined as of June 2016.

Edit: or 70.7m as of February 2017.

The percentage isn't correct as that was based on June 2016 numbers, since then the PC version has slowed down a lot, accounting for only 20.9% of sales as of February 2017 (25.5m).
So consoles should be closer to 36% (44m) and mobile around 43% (52.5m).

Difference seems about right when you include pc plus digital for consoles plus copies sitting on shelves.
