Forums - Nintendo - Switch Needs a Wii Sports/Nintendo Land/Wii Play.

Do you want a Wii Sports Resort/Nintendo Land type game on the Switch?

No, motion controls are dead... 25 42.37%

Yes, motion controls and ... 34 57.63%

Total:59

Speaking as a new owner, I'm surprised I feel this way...

It feels like Switch is missing something, maybe because I actually enjoy the feel of holding a Joycon in my hands.... Zelda is great but I want a fairly cheap game, full of variety (sorry snipper clips) game where I can just pick up and play with family/friends (a party compilation game), but one which uses motion controls in novel ways (Sorry Bombaman- motion controls can be fun!) but unlike 1,2 Switch actually be built around a solid foundation (sports or something with some depth) and something that you can actually engage with on screen with strong visual feedback.

Never thought I'd be asking for a minigame collection from Nintendo but here I am. Am I alone?

You should be alone in this, but you are probably not.

It has one. It's called 1,2 Switch.

The market for this type of game is largely gone. That's why it's not a priority for Nintendo. I think also they want to distance themselves from the Wii brand in general.

Why don't they go back to making actual sports games? Like I wouldn't mind a *real* tennis game on Switch. Or a real basketball game. Or a real hockey game. Or a baseball game.

Senran Kagura on the switch will be biggest market ever.

*Closes my eyes* Forgive me everyone. Forgive me for what i said cringy af. >.<

Edit: Oh yeah, i almost forgot. Arms does have motion control.

Isn't 1,2 Switch like Wii Play?

Switch I think largely speaking is going to be a traditional game system, just with the versatility of play anywhere.

1,2 Switch was kind of like their test IMO to see how much of that Wii Sports/Fit market is still around and it's no where near where it was 8-10 years ago.

That's also why IMO Nintendo did not bundle 1,2 Switch, they don't want the Switch associated only with that style of gaming, but it's more of a market test.

Why not go back to making actual real sports games?

Even if you wanted to do it simpler/retro style ok, you could do like hockey + baseball on one, tennis + soccer on another, etc. Sell it for $49.99 a pop.

Have you actually looked at who was buying Wii software from 2010 onwards?

It wasn't 'da cazualz' who left (see Just Dance 2016 sales or Zelda decline).

Expecting 'da cazualz' to pay stupid prices for Just Dance U, WiiU Sports and Wii U Fit when the Wii is $100 with tons of games is dumb (same applies to 3DS).

Nintendo is going to make 'da cazualz' pay this time. Wii Play/Fit/Sports should never have been as cheap/bundled as they were. Bundling Wii Sports cost Nintendo at least a cool billion dollars. 'Da cazualz' are more than happy to pay a premium for new experiences but not inferior shit with a useless, crappy screen controller.

"Da casualz" are gone period.

Nintendo can't even get them to pay $10 for a 2D Mario game anymore on hardware they already own. They're not willing to pay anything for games anymore, you can thank Apple and Google for that, they have totally warped the value of video games in the minds of that audience completely (just as MP3 downloading completely has destroyed the traditional music sales market ... a lot of people are simply unwilling to pay for music now by the album).

1,2 Switch was just a little experiment by Nintendo IMO. If it worked out fine, if it didn't then at least they suckered a few people into paying $50 for it, which would more than cover it's dev costs.

Its all about the HD rumble now!

Like that Manopoly game coming to the switch!

I'm more excited for Peach Beach Splash, ha, isn't the Switch one more of a dating sim? (though I can see why that would be more popular to some).
