Yep and as far as retail goes BoTW is definitely ahead. But in my personal opinion with digital I can see HZD being ahead of BoTW even though in the end I feel BoTW will sell more. BUT as of now seeing as digital is MUCH(one would think anyway) bigger on PS4 than Switch or Wii U then that gives a slight edge to HZD for now....

Yeah, BotW sold really low on Switch digitally (like 3%, which is below average even for Nintendo). Probably because of the tiny storage the Switch has.

All things considered, it's pretty impressive how closely BotW and HZD are selling.

Oh wow so only 3% but still switch is a new system so it is not that surprising. That's why I felt digital was much higher on PS4. But yes both games sold freaking AMAZING!!!! And are still selling well!

what? so you think HZD sold nearly 800k digital copies on US alone? that's insane lol, cause to beat BotW it would need to be over 1.4 million units, if Horizon sold around 640k physically it needs 760k digital units to be in a draw with zelda and over 800k to surpass it.

Oh my apologies I was thinking in terms of WW numbers not just US with my post. I feel that HZD for the month of March was ahread of BoTW with digital sales. HZD did over 1 million in the US(40% being digital) but not enough to pass Zelda in the US.

Oh, physical + digital WW is definitely ahead, it estimate around 300k ahead using the data in the front page of vgchartz and guesstimating digital sales..

It quite clearly says its including digital. Read it again.

The press release says the 1.3 mil total includes digital. If the 925k is from NPD, then it would've sold 0% digitally, seeing as the Wii U's 460k adds to the 1.3 mil.

Unless I'm misunderstanding and it sold 1.3 mil retail only.

The asterisk says "*Data regarding physical sales of games are from the NPD Group. Data regarding digital downloads of games and combined physical/digital life-to-date numbers are from Nintendo’s internal sales figures. All numbers, unless otherwise stated, are specific to the United States only."

The problem is the paragraph contianing the 925,000 figure doens't say retail or retail + digital nor does it say the figure is internal or NPD.

The ambiguity means we cannot conclude one way or the other.  Don't get me wrong.  It very well could be digital included but the wording leaves open both interpretations.  And I don't like vague when talking facts.

Zelda Switch had a 99% attach rate for packaged units. attach rate was 102% when including digital.

The 925k number includes digital.

It's not ambiguity, you just haven't read all the data.

Plus digital percentage is quickly rising. I wouldn't be surprised if the average digital game sale percentage is sitting at around 30% on PS4 Xbox. It's also the cause of many people to jump the gun and claim a game to failure when physical sales data is released. People just can't understand that they can't compare physical sales to previous years on a 1:1 comparison.

That said I think Nintendo digital game sales are a lot lot lower than on Xbox One and Playstation.

Ugh, I can't find the quote/source, but I believe EA and Ubisoft said earlier this year that digital ratios for games is 30% (or 40%, something high), and it was like 20% last year. I'll look for it more, but the point is digital downloads are increasing very, very fast.

Nintendo is indeed on the low side. BotW did 3% digitally on Switch, and their games tend to do like 10% digitally (I believe the big exception was Animal Crossing: New Leaf, but only in Japan). This can be attributed to their stubbornness on not using HDDs and shipping systems with a mere 32 GB storage in 2017...

Those digital figures, are they percentages for console or console and PC. EA digital games are crazily overpriced, in the UK at least anyway.

Sold like crap wtf? Keep.being delusional.

Zelda sold like  crap for  such a big classic  franchise.

Also ww horizon  destroyed  zelda.

Combined, BotW now leads retail sales.

BotW (NS + Wii U) - 2,384,744
Horizon: Zero Dawn - 2,355,897

Lol yep! I don't know what dictionary is Klaud reading......

Show me the Nintendo or NPD provided data saying 102%.

It was in the official PR sent out to clients.

Some media outlets chose to post it.

3% digital, Yes Nintendo always has much lower digital attach rates than Sony and Microsoft but 3% sounds amazingly low.

Weird that Halo Wars 2 made it into the top 10 for XOne this month but not last months top 10.

HW2 released on February 21, it literally released on the final week of the month and would've charted if it released on the first week. So it would make sense that it charted on March but also people could've used their tax money to buy more software.
