Didn't the order have a strong launch but fizzle dout soon after mainly for reviews and they pretty much never showed gameplay. At first Sony said they were happy with it' sales but it just soon fizzled out.

Not really. It was a very lackluster opening followed by a mostly usual drop of sales. Afterwards it really had no legs whatsoever, but at least for the first couple of months the drop was normal. It's the opening that was very underwhelming.

Horizon has a huge user base, but has tons of competition, especially for a new IP. Hitting 1m sales is considered pretty good for such a game on its platform.

Yeah they both did fantastic (and well deserved) haven't played BotW but it looks great.

Horizon is on the most popular console this gen with a player base that likes RPGs. BOTW probably won't catch up.

Yup, pretty much. It's already impressive that Zelda sold this much on such limited user base (15m between Wii U and Switch, which has supply issues). With that in mind, it's very likely it will outsell Horizon in the long run... unless Switch becomes a massive flop, which is doubtful.



Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Love both games, and HZD REALLY picks up at the end.  The main story is phenominal. 

 

BOTW is clearly the better game however.  Play them both.
