My B... I think even if most movies are reboots, remakes, sequels they are still good for the most part. Also low budget movies are making a comeback and those are where the new ideas will come!

Hollywood has never had ideas. It's a precious rare thing to see a great film that wasn't based on some existing work. The issue with recent movies is that they're adapting the wrong ideas. They're not willing to take risks, so they go about adapting and "rebooting" already successful films/tvshows. *coughwherethehellistheWheelofTimemoviecough*
That said, I take no issue with the live action Ghost in the Shell, though Death Note seems kind of pointless unless they mix things up a bit.

The problem is that making quick cash off movies has been turned into a science. They know exactly where they can cut corners and what will make the most money.
The truth is that great original movies don't usually sell that well. It's similar with games. Did you know that System Shock 2 lost money.... One of the greatest games of all time and it lost money for its developers.
At the end of the day, movie makers and game producers care about making money.

TV shows are safer bets now, so if you want to see more daring projects that's the way to go.
I've also had enough Hollywood. The last two times I went to the theatre were for The Handmaiden (South Corean, big budget) and Your Name (Japanese, animated masterpiece).

The problem is, there have been better alternatives to Ghost in the Shell since (most notably Ergo Proxy), and Death Note was only good for 12-15 years old newcomers to anime in their chuuni phase.
Overall only animes that reached cult status in their time get adapted, but once they are outdated in bth their themes and story structure (The rhythm in japanese animation got so much better after 2009 that older shows always feel outdated now, with a few exceptions). They could be modernized in their adaptations but that would anger the target audience.
I'll still go to the theatre for Ghost in the Shell just because SJWs think a caucasian actor shouldn't play a synthetic body, lol.

Creatively speaking, it's the golden age for TV series now. Movies have been stale for years now. And yes there are good movies but genuinely speaking you used to get 3-5 classics a year. Nowadays one classic movie a year would be something. Genuinely can't think of one that came out last couple of years.
Well at least Logan was good. We are also getting Live action Gintama but that is from the japanese not ameicans. Wonder how bad Ghost in the shell will be
Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

Yes the current seasonal anime produce masterpieces that are sometimes easily forgotten. But Gintama is as awesome as it has always been. Logan was awesome as well. People for some reason like Attack on titan and naruto a lot when things like Drifters Tokyo Ghoul ACCA Onihei are much better. But in terms of anime, Nothing rivals Gintama

I've heard rumours it's pretty faithful to the original anime, which I recently rewatch to remind myself. A few changes for western audiences but close. However the anime has certain scenes that the US movie going audiences wouldn't get, like when it just plays music over scene setting up plot.
Anyway, if it succeeds, then it might make Hollywood consider making more live action versions of well known animes, if done well of course, not talking Dragon Ball here. Just give them time and they'll ruin Akira, is all I'm saying. :P
Hmm, pie.
The real blame is on people who go to the movies. They want the same shit.

If we are going for super popular comedy series, Jojo at least rivals Gintama.
In more niche stuff, osomatsu san is gold, in a more slice of life kind there is Tekyuu, etc.
But I'm more of a josei, shojo 15-18 and slice of life psychological seinen type. I'll only be satisfied when A girl on the Shore gets adapted by an indie movie maker.
