I think it will hurt sales more because 3DS has a sizable market aimed towards smaller children. Parents may be less inclined to buy an expensive console, specially if their kids already had the habit of breaking their 3DS and they had to get replacements.

I actually balked at bringing it cross country when I traveled to San Francisco last week. I was worried I'd damage it somehow in transit. But I am super obsessive and compulsive when it comes to my video game hardware

I think the more I use it, the more I'll feel comfortable taking it into less controlled environments. I'm actually excited to bring it to Comic Con in October. A lot of that experience is waiting in line. Being able to play Mario Kart 8 with a friend on a single portable screen will be a pretty sweet way to pass the time.

do you have some sort of battery extension?  Won't it die pretty quick and then you're gonna have to deal with carrying it around all day with no battery?

I have to add this: Switch does a really good job preserving battery life in sleep mode.

The other day I charged 100%, left it on dining room table overnight - the next day battery life was at 97-98%.

So if you're only breaking out a game like MK8 for 15-20min sessions here and there as you travel or wait in lines - it can last a whole day without a charge.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

I think the price just cements Switch as something of a status symbol right?
You're actually sending the message of "I have enough money that I'll risk a $300+ investment to not to make being out in public so boring"

I've already left the thing at home once wotrying about the cost (but mostly availability) of replacing it. I'm also waiting on my hardcase for it. Once it's more properly protected, and I can walk into a store a buy a replacement, I'm sure I'll ease up. Most of my "outdoor" use thus far has been on the porch - which was out of range for the Wii U. Portability! ;)

Nah, I used Switch on the train and at my parents home and have it with me every day.

Have you showed it to every passenger up close to give Nintendo that sweet sweet free advertising?

Get I monies from Reggie if I do?

Just like the commercial.

You're Anti-social Karen.

Yep. I try to get a seat away from others, put my headphones on and play. Don't look at other passengers or something.

There is some merit to your point about consumers being hesitant about bringing a Switch with them, with the price of it, but that's pretty much the risk of bringing any sort of expensive item with you. Whether it's a 3DS, Vita, tablet, that risk is always present and it happens. I don't think the Switch is any different.

Also, I don't think it'll hurt sales. It'll just keep people from taking it out with them, at least sometimes.

Yes. That's why I don't see anyone outside with a smartphone either. Everyone just bringing their old Nokia 3210 while using their Samsung and iPhones at home exclusively.

Would be ludicrous to show $800 devices openly in public. And due to the lack of this free advertising Apple and Samsung are basically on the brink of bankruptcy. Tough times for expensive mobile devices.

They should've made the Switch a $100 device so that no one ever would want to even touch it.

Though an iPhone is near unsellable if you try to, let alone using it. Switch? 1,2, factory reset.

Phone save data? Phone back-up in the cloud. Switch? 1,2, factory reset.
