Sony isn't aiming to have the next N64.  If the PS3 only sells 30 million consoles they'll have ended up losing at least $1 billion on it.

What they are going for is a varied game library with a large number of games (not neccessarily a large number of quality games) and those sorts of game libraries don't see 35% attach rates.

Neither does the PS3 have acurrent (or near) 30million userbase nor is GT5 Mario 64. So no. I say 6million, 7.5 with good legs max.

Your right. GT games have sold more than SM64. So more the case for bigger sales. Huge fanbase.

This series is underrated on the Internet. (as far as sales.)

One would have to assume the early adopters of the PS3 are the hardcore fans who are there for the system exclusives. It's for this reason that i think, it could have a very high attach rate and possibly sell the 10 million but i think 6-7 million in the first year is more likely and then slowly going towards 10 million assuming that the PS3 user base continues to grow strongly.

Are you kidding? This game will sell at least 40 mil units and become the highest selling console game of all time. HAHA seriously though, I'm thinking it'll sell around 7mil, but who knows, it might surprise me.

No game on the PS3 or 360 will reach 10 million mark in its lifetime, unless they are bundled with every console.
8 to 9 million tops is what i consider to be the highest total of an individual game will reach on PS3 or 360. Being bundled though would open up the possibility of a few games on both platforms reaching 10 million. Five for PS3 with MGS 4, GTA 4, Resistance 2, GT 5 and FF XIII. Four for  360 with Halo 3, Gears of War 2, GTA 4 and COD 4.

The Wii is a different story. Wii has a much larger install base and is growing faster than its rivals and the games have very long legs. SMG, MK Wii will reach the 10 million mark on their own. Wii Sports and Wii Play have already reached 10 million.

Some points you might want to concider.

- This is a franchise of 4 full games and two spins ofs that has sold 47,000,000 copies.

- GT6 will come no sooner then 4/5 years after GT5. When talking GT sales try thinking a few years into the future.

- Last week PS3 was only 19k behind the wii in ww sales. ($400 hardware not one AAA game out yet)

- There is not one exclusive even half as big on PS3 as GT is.
