Forums - Nintendo - IS my wii u defective or breath of the wild runs terrible at kakariko and Hetano?

When's your switch arriving? Not a single dip for me on portable mode, and only a little dip here and there in docked mode with Switch.

Honestly not had any issue with either area. Frame Rate was solid for me for them.

I have a dip when docked in the switch as well. It is quite surprising for a Nintendo game and I'd have preferred a drop in graphics to sustain the fps but I've played quite a lot of PS4 games over the last couple of years - so I'm a bit more accustomed to frame dropping when there's a lot going on.

Switch docked is definitely better than wii u but it still has frame rate problems and often drops to 20 fps just not as much as wii u but then both are 30 fps most of the time.

Also I believe admittedly without trying it that using a wii u pro controller is better than the joy cons either seperate or combined in their holder going by what I've read so unless you have a Switch with a pro controller I think the wii u wins there.

Lastly I'm not paying £280 plus a £10 game price difference to play the same game with slightly less frequent frame drops and a small increase in resolution.

But I want to play it on the Wii U... don't tell me it's really that bad...

it's not that bad, the open world and everything else have really good performance, so far I have this problem with two towns. Not game breaking but not ideal. For me the best option so far is to play the game on the wii u gamepad, cause the aliasing is not noticeable and the framerate dips are less visible.

Hateno yes, there's a little slowdown there, mostly the main street around the shops. Kakariko though, not really, only in extreme conditions and even then less than Hateno.

Kakariko is the worst framerate I've seen so far in the game. Absolutely abysmal.

Hateno is okay except for a couple of spots.
That said I haven't really encountered anything else of significance.

So my question now is, If there is such a HUGE issue, why is this game garnering so many perfect scores ?

Should this issue not take away a few points from the game score ?

'Cause onion is talking about the Wii U version, the Switch release is the one that is receiving all the praise by the media, and that one runs ok.

It's bad (mostly in Kakariko), but, like with many other Wii U games, I got used to it. Not giving the game a free pass, it's still a little jarring, but I can enjoy the game even with the issue.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

The Wii U version of BotW tends to have really bad framerates on villages, and some people are reporting even worse framerates later in the game.

So, breath of the wild is the perfect zelda in my opinion and I love every bit of it and yes I'm the biggest fangirl, but the perfomance in kakariko and Hetano village is unnaceptable. Are you having framerate issues there, is this a problem at every village? Nintendo needs to fix this because one thing is a game with some framerate dips and other thing is a game that runs like crap in important places.

I too am playing on Wii U.  I too love the game.  And, I too think the framerate problems are unacceptable.  Like, down right ridiculous for 2017.

I've never been one to complain about Nintendo's lack of powerful hardware.  But, this game is really making me rethink that.  Nintendo produces incredible games.  I'd love to see what they could do with cutting edge hardware.

Its not just the framerate issues.  Overall, I'd say BotW is equal graphically to a very early XB360 or PS3 game.  I want better than that.  Its not an issue with many Nintendo franchises.  But, it is with Zelda and Xenoblade.
