I have found it interesting that I haven't seen a bunch of threads of gifs/pics of people waiting in long lines or rushing inside the store to get them. I thought we at least got the former when the Wii U launched.

I found 1 video (Theres probaly a couple out there) Its around the 3 minute mark. They also done a countdown near the end.

I don't want to deal with anything similar to black friday. Most people waiting either had a pre-order or know they're basically guaranteed one. No need to run and turn into a maniac.

Uh. It seems to be the only thing anyone's talking about to me. Zelda's dominating my Facebook. Maybe it's quiet 'cuz everyone's just playing the shit out if it? 8D

Nintendo should have expanded their studio count long ago. They don't seem to be able to attract 3rd party devs other than indies, and they don't seem to be able to keep it up themselves. The lineup is way too barren, and that's even when you're looking forward to all the nintendotitles this year (like I do). If Zelda, mario kart, splatoon 2 or whatever isn't your thing suddenly you loose 20% of the lineup for the whole year. Not much left.

Nintendo has now a unified development team concentrating on the Switch as opposed to 3DS and Wii U.

That alone means a stellar AAA output.

Third parties won't leave the potential of the Switch untapped. They simply can't afford that anymore. Just wait for their E3 announcements...

I can't say I see this stellar AAA output you're talking about. I'll be happy if they by the end of E3 have a constant stream of good titles coming, but till then I'll stay sceptical.

Nintendo launches arent like their competition. They ship less in an effort to gain buzz off of scarcity. Sony doesnt use scarcity to create buzz, they create buzz by selling to as many people as they can. Its the exact opposite.

Except for the fact that 3DS & Wii U both had excess stock at launch and missed their fiscal year shipment goals and post-launch shipments were the lowest quarterly shipments they ever had.

Also where did the "Nintendo underships" argument come from? The only time that this seems to happen is when something sells better than expected like Wii, Amiibo, NES Classic & 3DS during holiday 2016.

Makes sense. This is probably why they reported launching a million less switches than the wii u.

Yep, it's very quiet since the launch day. Actually I think a lot people don't even know that Switch has released.

I guess industry writers are still assessing the launch but there isn't much news out there about this launch it really does seem very quiet. Even on forums many of the normal buy everything gaming enthusiasts seem to have a mixed response to it.

Again though need to split it between US (strong Nintendo market) and Europe (weaker Nintendo market that is more price sensitive).

Here it's a quiet period overall, but sales should be going as predicted, as major online and brick and mortar appliance and electronics stores are selling it at most with a less than 10% discount or at list price with a game or a peripheral or accessory bundled, while GameStop is offering its usual bigger discount, ~40%, to people giving back a Wii U 32GB with some games, or a smaller discount if you give back a Wii U 8GB or a 3DS.

People see what they want to see I suppose.. From where I sit, the thing has been on fire, from both local retailers around me as well as all major online retailers in the states..

My local Walmart's line was already full at like 9pm, and my buddy went to a Best Buy that already had like 50 people in line by 10.. I don't see where this "quiet launch" thing is coming from..

I'm fully convinced that it's going to take at least a year for it to finally sink in for the doubters/haters that Switch is for real and will be a huge success, despite all the evidence staring them in the face. So be it.. It'll be worth the wait :P

NEVER doubt Nintendo in the handheld sector. They've never lost a war there, since they entered it in the 80's..

Almost too quiet. Twitch has lost more than half the viewership of Zelda, already and people have gone back to Lol. Maybe they should have waited closer to the release of Scorpio or the pro and tried to stir up some noise and comptetition. There is almost no noise outside of hardcore gaming forumns and video games media. Am I the only one sesing this? I only know one person IRL that has gotten a switch and only for Zelda. Maybe there are numbers somewhere to show how well the launch is going? If so please share, I want this thing to succeed so badly, yet it seems Nintendo are light on making noise and I fear they have buggered themselves with copyrighting youtubers and non traditional media outlets by making them fear strikes and legal issues. Thoughts?

I'm too busy playing BOTW to even care about news and stuff :P..
i have 3 random friends i didn't even know where gaming that picked the switch up
