Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Does the Public Know About the Nintendo Switch?

Question is just rhetorical and refers to this video game Game Informer did a couple of days ago where they ask regular people about the system:

It's kinda refreshing to see this because these are just average joes and gives a more realistic perspective on the system I think outside of the hardcore bubble that these boards are, but also it highlights some of the issues the system could face as well.

I do not think so, atleast my non-gaming family don't know what it is. Here in Norway I haven't seen a single piece of marketing for it, at the very least they should have done some YouTube commercials, but nothing.

The TV ads are posted on YouTube and whenever I start a video, I do see the Switch commercial from time to time. I guess it differs by experience.

No one at my job knew outside of a couple of Nintendo fans.

The video doesn't give a realistic perspective because it was clearly intended to be humorous.

The reactions of the people are genuine I would say even if the interviewer is trying to be humorous at times.

For the first time in ages, Nintendo ads aren't exclusively aired in germany on Disney channel, Super RTL and other kids stations. Does that mean everyone and their mother knows about it? Probably not. But it's a step in the right direction.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

So I waited in front of my local electronics store, some minutes before it opened its' gates and there were like 30 people already waiting before it. All ages, both genders. It opened up and they went straight to the Switch, it took 10 seconds and the first batch they had on the shelves was gone. Luckily, they still had some more behind the counter and that's where I got mine from :)

Just wanted to share this.

Considering the amout of hype I´ve seen on social media, I´d say that yes, many people outside the bubble of the videogame fanbases are aware of it - at least in my city.
