Forums - Gaming Discussion - I know why the Switch Pro controller is so expensive

i admit it is a bit more expensive than the ideal.
but we can find ps4 and one controller for 45$ now.
We will probably find a switch pro controller for 50 to 55$ eventually.

lol i like how you highlight the cable when all the key information is above it by one line as to why it be pricey,

Lol, but a lot of people already have USB-C charging cables :p

You get it, right? USB-C is still pretty new, cables do sell for 10 or up in shops (not in China :P).
Back when the extra controllers of Sony and Microsoft released, they didn't even include a cheap micro usb cable on it.
A quick search and you see a few Sony fans whining about it (linked one in the OP)

For the xbox one, didn't find any complaints, just a mention in the IGN wiki:

And back then the WiiU pro came with a mini usb cable.

Joke or no joke, it's pretty nice of greedy Nintendo to at least include a usb-c.

I agree, Nintendo tends to keep things minimal so getting a charger is at least something

I kind of expected not to get a cable since you don't get one with the DS4 and the big N skimped on the charger of the N3DS.  Don't get me wrong I'm not one that took offense to not gettign a charger, between my son and I we had 3 already.

Shame they didn't have a seperate dock with wireless charging, would have made the Pro controller price more justifiable.

i think due to battery life, HD rumble, NFC which PS4 and X1 controllers didn't have. There is a choice to not to buy it if it is expensive. I don't even think that all the ones who are complaining are soon-to-be switch owners.

My switch will be showing up on release day but unless I absolutely hate the joy-cons then I won't be spending $70 on one of these... I have a feeling that I will hate the joy-cons though (I already hate their name).

if you really want the 'standard' controller, getting a pro should be fine.  bought the wii u pro controller together with the console back then.  would happen to Switch for me once I've decided to buy it.  :)

I have no problem paying for it. The Wii U Pro controller is my favorite controller thus far and it's what I use for PC gaming. The Switch Pro looks even better.

How do you connect your WiiU Pro controller? That's something that can add extra value, if it worked natively on the PC as well.
