Forums - Gaming - Is the PS4 the best of both worlds now? (PC & Consoles)

No. PS4 doesn't come even close to replacing PC for me. My first reaction to this threads was to call it a joke, which should tell how far PS4 is from offering a decent amount of good stuff from the PC world.

Let me elaborate a bit:

  • practically no mods
  • no keyboard and mouse support to speak of
  • online service uses a subscription model
  • no backwards compatibility
  • questionable forward compatibility (i.e. current games might not work with future generations)
  • weak upgradeability
  • extremely weak customazibility
  • closed ecosystem
  • suitable only for a very small set of tasks
  • very little freedom in general

PS does not offer the best of PC. That's a silly claim. PC offers the best possible performance, lower used game prices, and a whole host of subjective things that many people prefer.

Personally, I love my Pro. But, I'm not going to pretend that it is comparable to a PC.

- Different options with different prices, PS4 Slim for 250€ or PS4 Pro for 400€

PC has even more options.

- Boost mode and PS4 Pro patches give you higher performance if you want it. And the boost mode proofs that your purchases of PS4 games are scalable to newer hardware just like on PC

Doesn't exactly throw new rendering techniques in though.

- A great VR helmet for a console price like 400€

VR hasn't gained any kind of traction. In short. It bombed.

- Out of the box recording footage on your console for an hour and the Pro does it even in 1080p, plus tons of other features

PC can record indefinitely. At resolutions that exceed even 4k.

Replacable internal HD and external HD

PC can have multiple internal and external HDD's. It can even combine multiple drives together to increase performance.

- Physical games

PC is mostly digital.

- Ease of use

Never ending patches, long install times, bugs and issues is "ease of use" - Please give me a Nintendo 64.

- More AAA exclusives

The PC has the most exclusives of any platform. It will even acquire all your console exclusives eventually.

I dont regret at all to have switched from PC to the PS ecosystem.

I'll add some points, considering you didn't touch any PC specific features. This was just the beating of the Playstation Drum rather than a proper comparison, please try to do better in future.

* PC has more gamers.
* PC has more games.
* PC has better mod support.
* PC has better performance.
* PC has better graphics.
* PC has better controls.
* PC games are cheaper.
* PC can even be played mobile.
* PC is 100% backwards compatible.
* PC can run all your console games eventually.
* PC can actually run CD's and 4K Blu Rays.
* PC has free online.

No. PC still way ahead when it comes to features, functionality and catalogue and many PCs also are more powerful than any PS4 model.

But you don't need a gaming PC to use those features. A laptop is much better.

Boost mode?

The best PC games that I have played were free2play..........

Pocky Lover Boy!

Relax guys .

Nah, but ps4 has squenix jrpgs, which are the only things that matter when you compare pc with any consoles

What does a PS4 offer that a PC does not offer apart from a cheaper price point. Dont say exclusives because i can name heaps of PC exclusives that arent available on PS4 or consoles.

PCs still offer physical games.

You can replace internal harddrives in PCs.

There are more PC exclusives than all 3 major console makers.

Online community is in another league compared to PS4. (Leaps and bounds bigger)

PCs are easy to use in 2017 (ill agree if we are talking in the 1990s)

PCs offer a better VR experience

PCs offer better visuals on all games.

PCs have a bigger gaming library

PCs have access to all sorts of controllers including the DS4.

PCs also offer Free online services so you don't have to pay to play half of your games you already paid for.

Is this even a contest?

If your poor than go PS4. If you want premium gaming than PC. Theres no other way.

If anything, PCs are the best of both worlds. Thanks to the continue inclusion of console games aswell.

In my Opinion yes. I usually only play F2p games on pc(MOBAs) and if i play other games i only use the mice and keyboard coz i feel like i'm emulating consoles if i play on pc using controllers.
