That really doesn't help your case

We can all see what it is. Doesnt matter if Nintendo wants to call it a home console to justify the price.

I know it's a handheld, I've been calling it a handheld since the Eurogamer Leak in july.

But if Nintendo decides to call it a home console, and market it as one, then it has to be compared with the other home consoles, it has to be compared with the WiiU, the PS4 and the Xbox One.

Like you said, they said it to justify the price, because normally a handheld is a lot cheaper than a home console. They decided to sell it at the same price as other home consoles, they decided to call it a home console, they can't have a prefered treatment and be excused for its shortcomings as a home system.

You can't pick and chose and twist reality just to serve your opinion on the system. It's not how it works

It seems to be how it works since you still call it a handheld...

Oh boy, you are a slow one aren't you?

ok, I'm going to explain again, with smaller words and more details.

-It is built like a handheld, the components are the ones you find in a handheld.

-From a technological point it is a handheld

-BUT, Nintendo decided to call it a home console, to sell it the price of a home console

-So it will compete in the home console market

-if it competes in the home console market, it has to be compared with other home consoles

I didn't pick and chose, Nintendo did, the consequences that resulted are their own damn fault.

If Nintendo wants the Switch to be a handheld, then they should release a proper home console and call the Switch a Handheld. Then the Switch won't have to compete against the PS4 and Xbox One.

A selling point is what is the deciding factor when getting something. A selling point isn't necessarily a product's main function. In this case, portability is the factor that differentiates Switch from the competition, but it's not the console's main point. The core of Switch is a console that you can take with you and not being a portable device first. Essentially it's a hybrid which is being marketed heavily using its differentiating feature.

"It feels like a handheld, but it's priced like a home console" :P

I understand your point that Nintendo called it a home console so it should be but they can say what they want, they're not fooling anyone but themselves to make them feel better about justifying the NS at that price.

And ultimately what it comes down to is how the consumers sees it, and seems like majority sees it as a portable console with tv connectivity.  Nintendo isn't the best at making the consumers see eye to eye, but at least this is better than when numerous consumers thought the Wii U was just an updated Wii.

So then you cant call it a handheld either then. Nintendo has decided it for us.

I agree, but to ask people not to compare it to the Xbox One and the PS4, when Nintendo goes out their way to make sure people do, is completely ridiculous.

I didn't create the stupid situation the Switch is in, Nintendo did.

The Switch is a home console that adds the question "Where did you leave the console, why is it not in its dock" At least the gamepad had the decency to stop working 3ft from its dock to discourage my kids from taking it out of the living room!

I love how you are completely missing the point just to avoid being wrong, the point wasn't about me thinking that it is a handheld, the point was about people thinking it's a "weak home console" like you said.

It is, it's a weak home console, and a powerful handheld. It's both, and Nintendo should have avoided calling it a home console first, because now, it's officially a weak home console.

People really need to start accepting the fact that this is a hybrid console, plain and simple.
