Oh wow! I wonder what made them stopped. I get why Nintendo is not saying anything.

Sony doesn't care about the US numbers nearly as much as MS does. As long as they are ahead or close, they will be outselling MS by at least 2 to 1. That's why we get milestone worldwide numbers for the ps4 (i.e. 50 million), but no real US numbers any longer. Sure, their numbers have been down yoy, but it's hard to spin the number one selling console in a bad way.

Correct. Sony is on the verge of its 40th consecutive month of being the world's no.1 selling home console. I expect the Switch to break that streak next month - but its been a hell of a ride for the PS4!

Well, at the very least the PS4 has maxed out its sales potential at the $300 price point. It could do better at $250, even if it didn't do much during the holidays (Nov. especially was unusually bad for both systems, considering Nov. hardware sales from 2011 to 2015). Honestly, I think the Slim should have been priced at $250 from the get-go.

Yup, thats exactly what this november needed. A $250 slim from back in september and then a discouned $$199-$220 slim through november and december. That $50 drop from $350 to $300 definitely wasn't much of anything. I think if all that is supposed to come this year does and the PS4 can somehow get as low as $199....this will no doubt be their best year yet.

Then it will start its slow decline.

Actually the 360 had some pretty decent Januaries. January has just been a weak month overall this generation. Combined PS4 & XBO sales were under 400k both last year and in 2015 for January. Combined PS3 & 360 sales never dipped below 460k any January from 2007 to 2013, and was over 500k in four out of those seven years.

Also, February is big for a non-holiday month (usually the biggest in terms of per-week averages, assuming no big system-sellers in the March-Oct. period) because of tax season. People like to spend their returns (if they get one) on big-ticket items. That's how I bought several of my consoles.

But as for the PS4, it's starting to look like it's passed its peak already, while the XBO still has a little room to grow. February will be an important test for both of them. Let's see if that two-week price cut to $250 for the PS4 does anything. Maybe Sony should have left it at $250 after cutting it to that during the holidays.

I disagree. At $270 the XB1 is apparently priced in such a way that its cheap enough to do better YOY but still not push PS4 numbers. At $270 the PS4 is priced to still do better than the XB1 but not do better YOY. I feel right now sony just needs to be selling at a lower price than what its doing now. I really don't get why sony didn't keep the price at $250 and then drop it further to $199 during the upcoming holidays.

Maybe they aren't as interested in YOY wins as long as they just win the month?

I also think they peaked. The pro just released so it should be up YOY. I think if there was NO PRO and it was priced at 250 it would still be down.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Is it just me or does everyone that references the Pro having just released forget that it costs ~$150 more than the PS4s.

Even worse, the core messaging for the pro is this, if this is for 4k gaming, you are playing the same games, but if you don't have a 4k TV there is no need to buy a Pro.

If there was no pro.... then the PS4s would have been priced at $250 from the get go and would have been as low as $220 or less through the holidays.

I also think people are forgetting that games like RDR2 or GTA6 or Gran Turismo and God of war are yet to release this year. Simply put, the PS4 has been riding on the backs of new Ips and one or two stellar older Ips. All sony's first party and the major third party console movers (outside call of duty) has not made an appearance yet this gen.

What kind of nonsense is this?

PS4 has Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto, FIFA, Madden, NBA 2K, Fallout, Battlefield, Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Far Cry, Watch Dogs, Destiny, Titanfall, Uncharted, Last of Us, Need for Speed, Dragon Age, Batman: Arkham, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Dishonored, Wolfenstein, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, The Order, InFamous, Mortal Kombat, DriveClub, Ratchet & Clank, Rainbow Six, Doom, Tomb Raider, Star Wars: Battlefront, Overwatch, The Witcher, The Division, Mafia, Dying Light, Just Cause, Evil Within, Diablo, The Crew, Until Dawn, etc.

There is no way you honestly believe what you just said.

You are right about there messaging for it. Limiting it's market greatly. Still though doesn't pro account for 15-20% of the PS4 sales. If there wasn't a pro PS4 would probably sell 10% less than it currently is.

I think Sony won't drop baseline PS4 to 250 until they are ready to drop the Pro by $50 as well.

I agree, nobody would buy Pro if Slim was permanently 250$ and Pro was still 400$

Maybe they will discount both by 50$ this Fall season?

I can already see these RDR 2 bundles flying off the shelves...

I have to say I agree with this.  And when the slim is cut to $199 permanently they'll cut the Pro to $299 permanently.
