Forums - Nintendo - Anyone else notice that the 3DS is out of stock everywhere?

The New 3DS and New 3DS XL aren't available at GameStop, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Target, Walmart, or Amazon.com.

You can still get a 2DS here and there, but they aren't at every storefront. I have a feeling that Nintendo is holding back from shipping units until after the Switch launches (if ever again), so as to not interfere with its sales.

bet: lost

Yes, it has been that way since December. I was looking for a 3DS or 2DS but they're gone everywhere, maybe at retail stores?

I'd also want to point out that the second hand market has also raised the prices, its hard to get a USED 2DS for less than $85 now, sealed 3DS are above $180 nowadays, especially the Black Friday models.

The first results show special editions. They'll most likely be sold out by now.

I've seen a healthy amount of 3DS' available in many stores. Certainly less than usual, but I'm sure Nintendo wouldn't let their only successful device of this gen be put to a halt. that would kill them.

High holiday demand? It did just get a brand new Pokémon game after all.

Yeah, and the New 3DS units that are available are well above suggested retail price.

Ah this must be a new version of globally in the US where the US is now everywhere

Yeah, I was in Walmart a few days ago and there were no 3DS's on the shelf. Can't remember the last time I saw that.

That kinda happens when you don't bother to restock after Christmas.

Nintendo is terrified of overshipping anything because they don't want to be forced to buy back unsold inventory that they undership everything now.

It's very hard to find Vita as well since Sony isn't shipping any of those any longer.

It's no wonder why they want to keep supporting it even after Switch is out.
The thing still has life in it.

Yep, happened before Christmas and it seems retailers haven't recovered stock yet.
