Each is a piece of deciated gaming hardware that is of equal profit to the company, This about there hardware sales and handheld console is still a console, likewise how the Switch is a handheld console with the bonus of hooking up to a TV. Both 3DS and Wii U get the same IPs and even the same games across both. Yoshi's wooly world, Smash Brother's and Super mario maker are available across the platforms. If by just because it has a different form factor or is a diiferent system shouldn't anything overwise you shouldn't be able to compare the Switch with PS4 or Xbox one. Each platform counts as their install base, especially since one of their most popular franchies (Pokemon) is generally handheld only.

And the problem with your argument that everyone is pointing out but you chose to ignore is that if you accept the logic you are pointing out for why handhelds are included, you'd have to include many PCs bought for gaming purposes that profit Microsoft. Just as ridiculous as counting those PC sales would be in a console debate, so is counting handhelds.

Well I was only focusing on the gaming divisions of each company; Xbox/Playstation for example. Besides Microsoft gets that money mainly from the Windows opperating software which is way more expansive than just gaming purposes. But if Microsoft wants to come out if their own branded Xbox/Gaming PC and keep making 1st party games then that will keep them in the gaming market which what I focusing on really. The topic I was going for is Microsoft going to stay in the gaming market of their Xbox division.

Is this a joke? OF COURSE MICROSOFT IS AT A DISADVANTAGE WHEN YOU COMBINE HANDHELDS AND HOME CONSOLES! Both the Playstation and Nintendo platforms sold better last generation as well when you combined the two!

Do some research PS3 sold better than Xbox 360.

OP: Why are you trying to deflect from Nintendo. Sure Xbox is doing terribly but Wii U sold less than Xbox One and the Switch already has alot of problems.

What about Wii U vs XB1 vs PS4. In the home console front Nintendo are the ones to be worrying about and they are marketing the Switch as a home console first so...

Are we talking about consoles? MS definitely preformed better than Nintendo.

Dedictated gaming hardware platforms I think, like the Switch is bascially nothng more than a handheld that has hdmi output but still compared with both Xbox and Playstation and 3DS and Vita

You made a comparison betwee xb1 with wiiu sales in the post I replied to. Please stick to the topic instead of moving goal posts. In other words, what does 3ds have to do with this? And again, this is an isolated case. I'm talking about LTD software sales of every single game released on those two home consoles.

Bold as many parts as you like. The point I replied to compared an xb1 game with a wiiu game. My problem was with using the success of a single game to draw conclusions about the success of the entire console. My point was that you get a better picture by looking at total software sales.

Now if that's done and you want to talk about 3ds sales, sure. I don't know the total software sales of 3ds, but I'm sure they're pretty good, most likely better than xb1's.

Yes but even if you only count the best selling hardware the PS4 at 49 million, 3DS at 61 million, Xbox has a dying install base of 25.5 that needs pick its self up quickly or it will get left behind.

Are you trolling? The Wii U has a dying fanbase of 13 million. XB1 will probably end the year around 28 milion, and be over 35 million next year. Thats not dying.

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Wrong thread.

This website has a game-total tool:

http://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/Software/Global/

Xbox One has sold 163 million games
Wii U has sold 84 million games.

But has it? Because so far its best selling game is Black Ops 3 which is at 4.6 million whereas the Wii U's best selling game, Mario Kart 8 is at 7.5 (just from quick look at this websites charts dont no if 100% up to date or accurate)

I always find this argument funny. How much software has XB1 sold in total compared to Wiiu? If it's more, then a few games selling well on wiiu clearly aren't enough. As for BO3 being its most successful, Halo 5 shipped 5m in its first 3 months, so these numbers aren't accurate (which is still besides the point).

Well... I only give one example, But if you want another; Pokemon Sun and Moon sold 7.2 million copies in ONE WEEK.

Besides I stated they might not be accurate and say otherwise if so, I only used the charts from this website.

Also, we need to stop acting like handhelds and home consoles are the same. They're different markets.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
