Also why would I a core gamer, get a switch when most games coming out are either on ps4 or exclusive to ps4? The only things that aren't on ps4 are the games that came out on the Wii u, that are getting rereleased on sewueled on the switch..... Nintendo gamers are probably getting the switch....

When DS launched in late 2004, it had the price of a PS2, PS2 had a huge catalog of games, PS2 was way more powerful, PS2 had better multimedia functions and online service.

The DS wasn't competing with the PS2. It was being compared to the GBA and PSP.

The Switch is competing with the PS4. They will be compared.

Switch vs PS4 is similar to DS vs PS2 as they are devices who have different form factors, different system features and different software libraries.

Sure, people will compare them but that doesnt change that they are completely different types of devices and in the grand scheme of things everything that costs money is in competition with one another.

DS had to compete with GBA, PSP, PS2 & XB just like Switch has to compete with phones, tablets, PS4 & XBO. Its reallly not that different of a situation. Switch's success will come down to whether people find it to be a compelling device regardless of how well other devices sell just like DS was successful on its own merits.

This is why the Wii U was such a huge succes.

Wii U has nintendo games -> Wii U failed -> Nintendo games have made the Wii U a flop.

Am I doing right?

If Nintendo really makes the best games in the industry, wouldn't you expect their consoles to sell more than 30-40 million unless a gimmick catches fire and attracts non-gamers?

The Wii U and PS4 have different form factor and system features lol. The software libraries better be shared between Switch and PS4 or it won't get much. Considering how many of the games announced for Switch are ports of games already on PS4, not sure you can make that statement. With Nintendo seemingly determined to call Switch a console, not a handheld, the DS/PS2 comparison doesn't hold water imo.

They are a top selling publisher.... Their games just haven't done too well to reach a large mature audience....

I love their games, i mean i haven't missed a single home console nintendo gen.

I just think it's not really the time to act smug and pretend they are the best when the Wii U failed to outsell an expensive handheld that got virtually no 1st party support and only gets niche anime games an indies.

I wonder why people do not compare the Switch to the Vita. It really shares the most with that system. I do not look at the Switch as a handheld that also happens to be portable, but the other way around.
Price: 300 Gen 1 Vita was the same (At launch)
Memory: 32 Gigs built in up to 128 gigs upgradable vs 0 (or 1 Gig Gen 2) with upgradable to 64 Gigs
The Vita was even supposed to be able to connect to the TV, but was axed prior to launch, but the port is still there on the Gen 1 Vita.
I look at the Switch as Nintendo's signal that they are done with Consoles for the most part, but want to take the console experience on the go.
Just look at the Port of Disgaea 5, it is taking the PSP/Vita's usual enhanced port on a portable slot.
I do not find 300 too much for a launching system, especially if it has games I want to play, hell the Super NES launched with 4 games, and only had 16 by the end of its first year, and few will call it a garbage system.

Why hate systems that bring you great games?

PSN: Aceburg0413

XBOX Live: Sheep of Doom13

Nintendo:  SheepofDoom13

3DS FC:  3222 - 5562 - 9867

Wii U was the worst case scenario, many things got wrong since its first reveal.

Switch is a completely different situation, but people insists that will be the same. It's ok not think that will replicates Wii success, but predicting around Wii U numbers is something that screams nonsense, lack of view or biased perception(wishful thinking)  for me.

By the way, Pavolink's post was made to mock some people, that often dismiss everything about nintendo.

I think you are missing my point, that Switch will succeed/fail based on its own merits and not because of what others are doing.

Yeah but the PS4 has Sony games so what is your point?

The 3DS launched at 250$ and even that was overpriced to many hence why they doped the price very early.
If this is a handheld and console hybrid why is it priced like a current gen console? Thats the main issue for many people.

But the Switch is next gen and Ps4 is last gen.
