You don't market and sell someone on hardware assuming the convience of a previous customer. You assume every customer is a new customer. Thats pretty business 101. There is def nitpicking on many things, but defending selling a piece of hardware without a power cord is not such a case. Its actually a perfect example.

Okay so maybe it was bad business, but it definitely wasn't money-grubbing.

How is passing along costs onto consumers for something most companies would eat the cost for not money-grubbing?

Around the Network

Microsoft and PS for popularizing paid online

Nintendo for never lowering their price for games (except for the occasional Nintendo Selects)

All of them for expensive controllers

All have their faults so can't really pick one

I just don't see it as money-grubbing.  If a company wants to release a cheaper version of something that's missing some components, aimed at the people who might not need it just to save a few bucks, and to throw in a free game as well... I just don't see anything terribly wrong with that.

Of the console makers? Probably Sony and Microsoft. 2-3 years after releasing their console, they make moderately more powerful consoles, the Pro and Scorpio, and then tease their player bases that they're the most powerful consoles on the market? That seems pretty awful to me. Sony does have VR though, and for the best experience, you'd need to have a PS4 Pro. So... give it to Sony I suppose.

its like new 3ds w/ its exclusive software and exclusive access to snes vc wasnt a thing, am i right?

The only major game that was exclusive to the system was Xenoblade Chronicles, and that can be gotten on the Wii and Wii U VC, and SNES games are pretty easy to get access to. Nothing really needed to buy the system for. It's not enhancing the existing 3DS games on it.

Let's not forget people that Nintendo has ACTUALLY broken antitrust laws before!

Have Xbox or Playstation been EVER found guilty of price rigging before ?

Around the Network

Originally, I would have gone...

1. MS
2. Nintendo
3. Sony

However, with the Wii U never dropping much in price, Nintendo refusing to drop the price of their 1st party titles til years later and only by ~$10 or so, VC games being WAY overpriced, and with the price gouging that's going on with the Switch, Nintendo has taken the top spot. It doesn't help that MS had to drop a lot of their shitty policies and drop prices. Yes, they were basically forced by Sony's standards, but they still did it. Nintendo thinks they can charge whatever and diehards will pay for it. Unfortunately, they are probably right for the 1st ~5M units sold.

I don't know what/who you're talking about but I laughed xD

The 3DS doesn't come with a power cable in most form factors in most places over thr world.

Ugh.  I still remember the horrible excuses for that.  "Most people will probably already have a power cord."  "It only costs like $5 for a cord on eBay."  Excusing them leaving out a cord that probably costs them like $.50-$1 to throw in the box?  Seriously, sometimes there are Nintendo fans that are TOO diehard.

I agree with Nintendo but that's not an argument. Good games hold their value. That's a fact.

Well, let's use Zelda as an example then. Zelda games usually get a meta score around 95 and most of them have won GOTY awards, so let's compare those prices to some games from other publishers.

Bethesda, Skyrim, 96 meta, GOTY winner in 2011: $10 for the standard edition, $20 for the legendary edition with all DLC
Take-Two, Red Dead Redemption, 95 meta, GOTY winner in 2010: $20 currently with all DLC, standard version regaularly on sale for $10
Sony, Uncharted 3, 96 meta, GOTY winner in 2009: $20 list price, currently on sale for $14
Microsoft, Halo 3, 94 meta, GOTY nominee in 2007: $16.88 currently
2K Games, Bioshock, 96 meta, GOTY Winner in 2007: $11.67 currently
Capcom, Street Fighter 4, 94 meta, Fighting GOTY winner in 2009: $15 currently
Konami, Metal Gear Solid 4, 94 meta, GOTY winner in 2008: $18 currently
Warner Bros., Batman: Arkham City, 96 meta, GOTY winner in 2011: $12 currently with all DLC included
Activision, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, 94 meta, GOTY winner in 2007: $20 currently
EA, Mass Effect 2, 96 meta, GOTY winner in 2010: $10 currently

In the end, Nintendo care's more about making a big profit on each sale than they care about volume sales.

That's the problem. You are comparing those games to Nintendo games. Even with Zelda. I mean, in this world it's Zelda, and the rest. That's an universal fact.

You're assuming they're passing that cost savings onto the consumer (i.e. they would charge the customer more for the 3DS if they had to ship it with a charge cable). I can almost guarantee you they did not do that. It would have cost the same if they weren't money grabbing asshats and threw in a charger that probably costs them less than 30 cents to pack in.

Neither is there a need to buy a ps4 pro or scorpio since they'll be playing the exact same games. It's up to the consumer wether they want to upgrade or not. Would it be better not to have the choice?
