Forums - Nintendo - Switch Price Differences

Apparently the Switch will be a bit cheaper in the US than in Europe.

But in Japan it will be even cheaper? It's 29980 yen. That's only 261 USD and 246 euro. So if it's indeed €330 in Europe, that would be a price difference of €84!

Is the €330 rumor fake? Did they make a mistake? Did I make a mistake? Or is there really such a huge price difference?

When you factor in the price in EU, please take into account Vat when comparing it to the US.

Do I have to take it into account when comparing it to Japan too?

Nintendo is more popular in the US than Europe. You only have to see that the larger European market as a whole takes far less of the 3DS than the US. Europe is fragmented into lots of seperate countries and Nintendo's costs are higher in marketing, transport and management.

I've a feeling rejection of the Switch will be far higher in Europe than US too. I think Europe is more value orientated so higher pricing for Switch in Europe will have a greater negative effect.

Because of this I think Europe will likely get a price reduction before the US.

I do not know the Japanese Tax System, I just know the different between EU and US. US prices are typically (Insert Price so 299.99) + Tax = Total Price.

While EU is Price listed is Total Price.

330€ is not a rumor. It's being sold at that price.

Wikipedia says there is 10% tax in Japan, so it would still be only €270 with tax included.

Oh well, I'm probably wrong again. I know nothing about economics :/

It is annoying I know, since some companies still price it better even with VAT being annoying. I think Nintendo should have went with 299 Euro.

Has it been confirmed? I thought it is just the price stores use because there isn't an official price yet. I checked in on a toy store's site and they say that it's just a price they are using now and that it may change.

Japanese tax is currently 8%, although scheduled to increase. And the 39k price is excluding tax. Although even so it still works out cheaper, so suck it Americans/Europeans!

29k or 39k?

Anyways, now that it's region free, can't I order a Japanese system?
