I'm pretty sure they made some decent money from Amiibo sales and not peanuts.

I think he's talking about now. Amiibos were crazy for a while, but it's not that popular anymore (like the rest of the gaming toys) and you can find Amiibos in sales easily.
Well, they are a for profit company. They want your nickels and your times.
That being said, the prices are in line with what others are charging.
Both Microsoft and Sony charge for online. I'll reserve further judgment until I see how it works and what it costs.
A joycon is 50 dollars which is perfectly in line with what Sony charges for the Move, and I believe the Joy Con is a superior controller.
The msrp for the XBox One and PS4 controllers are each 59.99. Ten dollars more for motion sensing (the PS4 may have this?) and HD rumble. The PS4 dualshock is actually 65 in some colors.
A move/dual shock 4 charging station is priced at 30 dollars.
If you want to claim the whole industry is nickel and diming people, maybe. But the prices are in line with industry standards.

This will be the most advanced dedicated portable gaming device created so far, is what it is! It's more of a gaming tablet that has a docking station for your TV |
Portables that can play console games are what the Vita was. Not a good recipe.

and what the PSP was.......which did very well.

Low $10s of millions is peanuts for Nintendo's size.

They definitely need to be very competitive to what Sony and Microsoft are doing before they start charging that's for sure!

By September 2016, Nintendo reported that 39 million Amiibo had been sold, along with 30.6 million Amiibo cards

Probably more than low $10 millons of dollars in profit.
I'm with you though that the sales are down now. They might be able to ride the wave a little more if the Switch takes off but the market is mainly just people buying figurines of their favorite characters for display than to use in actual game consider amiibo use has always been very limited.

At the very least it has to be on par with the 360 I think. Thought the price should be lower.

I don't think the Vita was ever believable as this though and certainly Sony didn't help with the lack of 1st party support. Let's face it what will sell this device immensely is can I play, Pokemon, Minecraft, Smash Bros, Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, Monster hunter and all of jrpg's and popular indie games that I want.
3rd party titles was never really going to sell this to the buying public and the core gamer will choose to play those games on PS4 and XbOne anyways. If it can get as many as possible great, but ASAP Nintendo needs to unload the future software line-up in place leading up to and including e3.
