I like the fact that I can choose a console I want to buy. I don't need to buy a expensive console that don't have the games I want to play.

Tbh i think there's more chance of Sony going 3rd party only.

Sigh.

1. I already said it's not a 1 for 1 growth.
2. Because they're not the same game.
3. Handheld and console are different platforms and you can't compare the 2 and they're completely different markets.
4. The same game released on more platforms DOES mean more sales. Is it proportional? No. But I already said that so I don't know why you keep making this point. GTA V Would not have sold 75 million units if it was playstation exclusive.
5. If you think them putting Mario and Zelda etc on PS/XBOX/STEAM Means people wont buy their handhelds and they wouldn't sell a tonne from Pokemon and Monster Hunter I don't know what to say to you.

1-4. is beating around the bush. nothing you have said supports that Nintendo games would sell significantly higher by being on PS/XB. i know you said its not 1 to 1 but my examples are still valid, a bigger install base does not automatically mean bigger sales.

5. developing for PS/XB/PC would take significant resources away from their handhelds. A huge struggle Nintendo has had is supporting 2 platforms simultaneously. they struggled to support both 3DS & Wii U so what makes you think they can give strong support to an HD handheld while also developing games for PS/XB/PC?

No ti isn't. can you literally name 1 example where a third party game has sold 0 on a platform when it has released on others? Every single Nintendo game will sell better if it was on PS/Xbox/Steam. You can argue if they could sell more to be worth it, or the ratio of sales but it's absolutely ridiculous to say it wouldn't sell better. A Bigger install base = more sales. If they released Zelda on PS4/Xb/Steam tomorrow will it sell 0? No. Will it take away some switch sales? Yeah, sure but definitely will be more sales than just being on Switch alone.

5. They struggle to support enough to justify having a system for their games. A Ubisoft exclusive console would be a hard sell because they don't release enough games to justify an exclusive system. If Nintendo released 3 games a year that would easily be enough and still support their handheld.

The Switch console alone is more expensive than the PS4 bundled with a game...

And what you said doesn't make much sense anyway. If Nintendo were to go third party, the games you want to buy would end up on other systems...

That's exactly the reason why I'd like Nintendo to go third party.

They're not stupid, they'll have looked into the possibility numerous times over the years. The reason they keep making the same decision, not to, is because that's the choice that benefits them.

The reason they haven't is because Nintendo has a rich history of being the leader in gaming hardware. Innovating and bringing new ideas in how to play games and they are proud of that and don't want to let that go as it is part of their identity.

If going third party promised untold riches, I can't see a business continue to place pride ahead of such riches for decades. Surely at some point the desire for profit would win out.

wow thats a shitty argument, when did i say any game would sell 0 zero by being on PS/XB/PC? i said there is nothing to suggest that a Nintendo game would sell significantly higher on PS/XB/PC compared to Nintendo hardware.

how does releasing 3 multiplat games a year make mose sense than releasing those games on their own hardware? by releasing them on their own hardware they potentially move more hardware & accessories while also eliminating the need to pay royalties.

I don't need to buy a Playstation 4.  Do that make sense?

If Nintendo went third party, you would have to buy a console not made by them to get the games you want.

This thread reads as if people are going to be absolutely stunned by the profits that Switch will bring in. Nintendo's bad period is over, now they'll rake in the money.

I take the thread as hypothetical only. Not as believing it as a real possibility of it happening.

And certainly not as someone who wants it to happen.
