I've saw sega leave the hardware market and do not want to see a company destroy itself again. But Nintendo has decided to leave the home console market, they might come back as they are still a hardware manufactor. Alas I doubt they will come back, so it looks the same for me is they go multiplat

After buying the Switch and playing Breath of the Wild, I will have to boldly say no. I no longer believe they need to go third party. This game is the truth and that company is amazing. Nintendo has decided not to face Sony and Microsoft head on (mostly sony), but rather circumvent them. They've boldly planted themselves in a needed position with an HD handheld/ console which so far has succeeded to do what the Vita/PS3 failed to accomplish. This, all while trying to accomplish turning profit. Let us see what else they have to offer before we jump the gun.

In four years they will announce they are going third party.

Mark it down, bump this post in four years.

Add a 0 to that and it still wont happen lol

About Sega, as I said in following posts to this you are quoting, Sega situation was severly difference, they did it out of need, and Sonic was their only franchise with a major reach, which was what kept getting major attention.

Nintendo has money to keep themselves up, Nintendo has a good couple of well known IPs with their own followings, Nintendo doesn't have the need to side with one of the hardware devs and respond to them letting they meddle in the development of their games.

And about being a toy company, they can keep both keep making accessories and toys like Amiibos just as well.

Their money is generated by their hardware business though, profits are made from the licensing charges, hardware sold as well as sales of first party software. Going third party would not only remove money made from licensing fees and hardware sales but also add the costs of licensing of other platforms, money to keep themselves up doesn't disprove what he's saying they'd do excatly what Sega did before them if they go that route. Fact is Nintendo's games are as good as they are because they're design specifically for their own hardware which they know inside out, it was the same with Sega.

How exactly are they going to make amiibos and accessories with no hardware to utilize it :?

Switch is gonna make them alot of money.... but yes.. I would like to see what type of games Nintendo could make, on a PS4.

Wait another 5 years and you could see that happen, when they release the successor to the Switch. =P

If they make a new normal home-console it might be PS4 levels by then yes.

If they make a Switch 2.0, it wont be much more than say 2-3 times the Switch, and still below the PS5.

You didn't mention anything about the PS5. So I wasn't puting it in the equation.

The thing is, BOTW is proof enough that they don't need high end hardware to find success and make compelling and fun games that resonate with gamers and the industry.

Sorry ment to write PS4.

I dont think 5 years from now, a Switch 2.0 will be as powerfull as the PS4.

By then there will be a PS5 too... but thats besides the point.

BOTW could look much better than it does, if Nintendo had a more powerfull console though.

They just released a handheld that is like 50 times more powerful than their previous hanheld, I wouldn't go so fast making those predictions.

You totally missed the most important point I made.

Why wouldn't a Switch 2.0 be at least as powerful as the PS4? I mean compare Tegra X1 to Tegra 2 which were released five years apart. The best Tegra 2 chip was about as powerful as the Wii with 7 GFLOPS of performance.

At the very least the Switch 2.0 will have more usable ram, a much better CPU, and modern feature sets which outperform the PS4. The GPU will probably be much more capable too.

Or are you saying you don't think the Switch 2.0 would be as weak as a PS4?

I suspect we will probably get a New Switch like we did New 3DS which will approach the base PS4 in performance some time at the end of its life, capable of playing Switch games at 1080p 60fps. The Switch 2.0 would probably have some new Nvidia tech entirely.
