About Sega, as I said in following posts to this you are quoting, Sega situation was severly difference, they did it out of need, and Sonic was their only franchise with a major reach, which was what kept getting major attention.

Nintendo has money to keep themselves up, Nintendo has a good couple of well known IPs with their own followings, Nintendo doesn't have the need to side with one of the hardware devs and respond to them letting they meddle in the development of their games.

And about being a toy company, they can keep both keep making accessories and toys like Amiibos just as well.

Their money is generated by their hardware business though, profits are made from the licensing charges, hardware sold as well as sales of first party software. Going third party would not only remove money made from licensing fees and hardware sales but also add the costs of licensing of other platforms, money to keep themselves up doesn't disprove what he's saying they'd do excatly what Sega did before them if they go that route. Fact is Nintendo's games are as good as they are because they're design specifically for their own hardware which they know inside out, it was the same with Sega.

How exactly are they going to make amiibos and accessories with no hardware to utilize it :?
