I love mario games.... that one mario game is the only reason (right now) Im tempted to get a switch.
It sucks to have to say that, right after a console reveal by nintendo.

Im holding off though, that price is too much for what their selling (europe prices ouch).
Nintendo will need to drop the price, and wow me with single player games.

As for the online thing... Im not paying for a subscription to be able to play splatoon & mario kart.
It just means I wont be buying those games (ei. forced sub for online = nintendo lost my sales in those games).

I suspect mario kart, splatoon, smash will sell less, on the switch now, than they would had online been free.

Makes sense. That's what I would do too, if I was interested in the Switch. Just play the games I like and simply skip the ones with multiplayer.

Depends on what games are given with the service. I could get behind it for the right price and the right games.

A few NES/SNES VC games.

Free to play each month, after each month, the games wont remain in your library, even if your still subscribed.

Not getting any ports, it's that easy. No reason to quit console gaming.

Good, good. So, I take it you never had an issue with paid online, right?

Eh, not really. Got an Xbone.

Oh, then that is highly embarrassing. Nevermind - won't touch it.

I'm not paying money to "rent" age old NES/SNES games.  I don't think it would be worth it even if I got to keep them.

I had no idea it was that bad. Maybe if enough people complain they will reconsider and improve the way MS did.

for me,.. a switch would be a secondary console not a primary.  i wouldn't pay for online on a secondary console that doesn't get a ton of play a year.  i wouldn't get mariokart (i have no interest in splatoon regardless) if i can't play online.

i suspect mario kart, splatoon, smash, and the switch will sell less than if they would not have online fees.

nintendo can't really fill that secondary console position and then charge a subscription fee to play the games.

When Sony stops making consoles and games

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Luckily for me the PS4 and Xbone are so unappealing that so far I didn't feel the need to ask myself that question. I've free online and great games on my 3DS and for now that's all I need, if Switch replaces it soon then I'll have to consider going full PC, unless there are enough single player exclusives that might interest me in the console.

In other words, paid online is a dealbreaker for you, right?

I just played some NFS Hot Pursuit 2 on PS2

My Etsy store

My Ebay store

Deus Ex (2000) - a game that pushes the boundaries of what the video game medium is capable of to a degree unmatched to this very day.

Who cares about pay to play online.

I have been gaming for 20 years now and have yet to pay for anything online related that ws not an MMO. Never paid for Live, PSN, ect. I doubt I'll pay for this Nintendo one.

I don't play FPS, which constitute 90% of online games. And multiplayer games I tend to enjoy with people in the room versus online, so ain't too tempted to pay. We'll see. Is Mario Kart and Smash enough to make me want to pay online? Doubtful, or at least for long.

I'm mostly an offline single player gamer, or else party gamer. Neither requires internet.

I'm actually more excited for gaming than ever since last night. Been wanting so long for handheld and home to clash. The Wii U was not what I wanted. This looks to be. Kind of makes me think of the typical trend in electronics. Someone does something first and it sucks, and someone else comes out with a better version later. Like look at Apple. They rarely ever come out with things first, but many times people only remember them for "inventing" it, because they just made it "work". Feels like that is what happened here with Switch. Funny thing though is, Nintendo seems to be in it's own market. They sort of come out with it first with Wii U, and finally get it right with Switch. (you could argue the Shield, but that just again proves my point. It didn't click)
