The PS3 is still in first this week with a lead of 22k units. The wii sold 40k units more then the PS3 Japan last week, so it's safe to say the Wii will probably pull ahead. However, this is a rare occurance, the PS3 being so close to wii's total sales, nearly passing it! This is due to 2 things:

1.) Smaller sales of Wii in America. (Not so Important)

2.) GT5:P launching last week.

I know you all know this, but the point is that people need to stop saying that even the big games won't cause a rise in PS3's sales, it was bound to happen and it did. I have heard many a Fanboy (Ninty and Micro) call bluff when discussing a rise in the PS3's sales during a launch game, and this should shut that up. Thanks for listening to a rant about something most people already knew!

300% increase YEAR over YEAR for PS3

It's nice but the fact that GT5:P caused even a 100k increase in PS3 sales is still just a little bump when the PS3 is already 11-12 million behind.

 You're missing his point. People laugh when you even hint at PS3 sales rising because of a game launch. You're proving his point by still trying to make it seem like a negative. He's not saying it's going to outsell the Wii, he is saying that it is impressive that the PS3 is that CLOSE to it's sales.

Well I don't know which fanboys were saying it (not that it surprises me that they do say it), it's not surprising that a big game, in this case, GT5:P, lifted the PS3 over the Wii (in Others at least) for the week of release said big game. What's more important, is whether the PS3 (or any other hardware) stays above the Wii (or any other hardware) for more than just the first week after the release of the said game. I would expect you could find a few times when the GameCube or Xbox beat the PS2 in sales in any one territory, or even total worldwide. But that didn't matter much since they couldn't continue beating them in the long term.

Either way, good job PS3. In order to get a "great job" it has to outsell the Wii for a few more weeks, at least until GTA4, then it should be able to outsell the Wii for awhile longer.

Wii will win and Japan and Wii will win!
