Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Switch Will Blow You Away, Nvidia CEO Says

Sounds like regular ol' CEO talking to me.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

-High price point

-Bad colour choice (for the "actual" model)

-The obvious lack of great first party games

People getting burned by Wii U may be a little cautious about Switch. So far the price is just a rumour, colour shown is bad and 1st party games shown are the same games that nobody cared to buy a Wii U for.

I have to ask you something:

Do you believe that it's exclusively down to the games that determine a console's success?

Yes.

Of course there are other factors to take into consideration that may prevent people from getting a console (such as not being able to afford one due to price point), but games are the single reason to want one in the first place.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

The question is not for me, but I have the answer. Perception determines a console's success. Not games, not price, perception.

He didn't say much of anything. Switch will not impress on its technical side and the whole portable thing is cool but it ain't mind blowing. Almost there though, we shall see.

Will it "Make you say Wow" like the Wii's graphics were supposed to?

(jumping into Rol's question and answer with the others) Onionberry used the wordage "perception"  So, proper marketing then?  At least initially?  but even with good marketing to kick it off, if the games don't follow...then that ruins the perception, no?

You didn't answer me, but when a console is considered a success, depends only about it's games. Nobody called PSP a success despite it outselling the hugely successful NES and Megadrive. Not only the games library was considered a little so-so, but also the game sales were bad.

Nobody called the PSP a success!?!

Also, Dreamcast had a much better library than PS2 for almost two years.

lol, i had forgotten all about that!

I guess if you figure a game like galaxy 2 running on a repackaged gamecube, then yes  =p

"Only on it's games"  games are very important but no...  why the ps4 won the generation since day one or even before the release date with not so good games like Knack and killzone and a bunch of ports as launch titles? the ps4 didn't have must have games for a while but was selling a lot even when the ps3 was a let down in the begining of the last generation.

Why? because perception won, xbox had the best console last generation but this generation they fucked up with marketing, price and their ways, while Sony was doing everything possible to be perceived as the good guys and the savior of this console generation. And yes they are, imho the ps4 is a fantastic console, but since day one I was like "yup, I'll buy the ps4" not just because of the games, but because their marketing affected the perception of the massess in a good way.
