You didn't answer me, but when a console is considered a success, depends only about it's games. Nobody called PSP a success despite it outselling the hugely successful NES and Megadrive. Not only the games library was considered a little so-so, but also the game sales were bad. |
"Only on it's games" games are very important but no... why the ps4 won the generation since day one or even before the release date with not so good games like Knack and killzone and a bunch of ports as launch titles? the ps4 didn't have must have games for a while but was selling a lot even when the ps3 was a let down in the begining of the last generation.
Why? because perception won, xbox had the best console last generation but this generation they fucked up with marketing, price and their ways, while Sony was doing everything possible to be perceived as the good guys and the savior of this console generation. And yes they are, imho the ps4 is a fantastic console, but since day one I was like "yup, I'll buy the ps4" not just because of the games, but because their marketing affected the perception of the massess in a good way.
