Will the Xbox one take the us in 2017?

Yes 49 21.78%

No 176 78.22%

Total:225

Over the last few months, we've seen the us really become a battleground between the Xbox and PlayStation brands. Microsoft's console has become more competitive with the new slim console, and has been able to win more npd months than in any year before it. We also saw a surprisingly close November with a 100k gap, which also accounts for the effect of the psvr launch as well as the ps4 pro launch. December could be a win for the XB1, and if we see this momentum continue, I believe that we could see 2017 be a win for the Xbox, which would be a massive shift from just a few years ago when it was being destroyed by the ps4 in its home market. So do you guys think Microsoft could win the US in 2017, or is this simply little more than a hopeless dream?

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Let's wait for decembers numbers. But if it wins December than I say yes. If it looses than just a maybe. Xbox has Scorpio launching towards the end of the year, but Sony has the pro all year long. In addition to that PS4(so I've been told countless times) has more exclusives. A lot of smaller ones(in my opinion) but it may very well have both an insomniac Spider-Man and god of war this year. Maybe a couple other really big ones but I can't think of them. Xbox has halo wars2, scalebownd, forza, crackdown, and sea of theaves so far. So Sony wins on the games side. They also have marketing deals for the battlefront, destiny 2, rdr2, and call of duty. Those are all the big ones. If it wasn't for those 3rd party deals I would say yes for sure. Microsoft might be able to keep it close till Scorpio arrives which will likely be in November. I really home it releases in September before all those big games come out or it could be too late to make a comeback.

 Edit

if Scorpio comes out above 499 than no it won't win the year.

Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)

halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)

x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

I think yes, especially depending on the release window of Project Scorpio. The brand is doing amazingly well now and last year was an amazing year for them. Especially with such a small sales gap going against PS4 and Pro in November. I say its definitely a possibility.

I dont think so. They can take a couple monthly wins but taking the year.........

Pocky Lover Boy!

It really comes down to Switch's price point.

I just can't believe Sony has marketing for rdr2, battlefront 2, call of duty, and destiny 2. Are these deals confirmed or do people just assume. I think it would be in Microsofts best interest to release Scorpio before these games come out. If they wait till after they release it will be like old news. I also hope Microsoft will be able to say look these games play best on the Scorpio.

PS4 was never destroying Xbox One on a yearly basis, so an Xbox One win in 2017 won't be as impressive as your OP suggests

Xbox One has Scorpio of course, but Sony has the best third party deals again, and if they are aggressive with Pro pricing next holiday and make use of Call of Duty, Battlefront 2, Destiny 2 and Red Dead Redemption 2 wisely, they have a chance

I would say Xbox One is the favourite right now for me

A major factor for why it was able to sell more for a few months was the insane price cuts. Playstation has more games that people are seemingly interested in on the horizon, plus deals for major games like RDR2, plus being the only consle with VR support at least until the end of the year, and that could start taking off. In addition to being the most bang for the buck in terms of hardware, possibly even after the release of Scorpio.

I think Playstation has got a lot going for it this year, but who knows, anything is possible, as that market is kind of close. The majority of buyers are casuals anyway and aren't that well informed, so marketing is very important and could sway the sales numbers in Microsoft's favor.

Personally I think that Playstation's chances are higher, especially if December did in fact go their way.

Lol unless they show some heavy hitters at E3 they don't have a chance.

They certainly *could* "win" 2017, but I wouldn't bet on it.

I hope they do win though, as that would have to mean they've got a another big game or two coming and/or some great pricing plans for Scorpio and S. That's all good for everyone.
