I agree with a lot of that and I think others pushing an agenda in here should take note. If you were to read Rol's and q few other posters in here over the last week you'd think I'm trolling people everyday with positivity towards Sony.  Which just ain't true.

Regarding acevil he was actually very annoying on japanese sales threads for a long time.  Constantly negative about the ps4 and downplaying it's sales performance in Japan.  so he had a negativity mindset.  I'm not sure what triggered it or when exactly but it reminded me of the negativity on sales threads on gaf which I hate.

So wiry his negative mindset he was never going to have around much longer anyway.  Everyone reaches the end of the road at some point and he'd reached his.

You have yourself to thank for the reputation you have. There's no smoke without fire, and you create more smoke than anyone else on the forum. Rol and the others notice this behaviour, so you can't be upset when there's so many people highlighting the problem. If you truly wish to remain a member of this community, then you take note and improve your behavior or posting style.

Acevil's "negativity" came about because he was comparing one generation of sales to another. He regularly used to post the Media Create and Famitsu threads before Kresnik started to take over and do a stellar job. He wasn't being negative about PS4 and downplaying, he was being critical of the market as a whole and the hole left by the Wii/ DS combination. Hell, even directly comparing the performance of PS4 to the PS3. That's not negativity and downplaying, it's a legitimate concern and critique of the market.

Acevil is still on the forum and regularly posting, so to say he's reached the end of his road is misleading and insulting.

And because this thread has gone off the rails with digs, off topic spam and little aggressions, I'll quote the OP.

  • Please stay on topic.  If a discussion takes a tangent to something completely unrelated, it should probably move over to a new thread of its own.

If you have nothing worthwhile to add then don't post. It's tiresome enough having to go through a hundred posts, but when half of them are adding nothing to discussion it's irritating.

Come on, mods - are you telling us that moderating really takes a toll on you? I'd do it for free.

If you had to deal with the users on here you go crazy too, ex the user Lawlight

Did you see the post above?

There's only so much facepalming and headdesking someone can do before it takes a toll on their mental health.

That makes sense.  It's the same for boxers.  Too many punches to the head and the effects are seen.

That's what they said but they also do it for free.  I'd imagine even as little as $100 per month would make them much happier.  I've campaigned for paid mods (not to be confused with Bethesda!)  on Vgchartz.  I thought with the supporters program they would, but they were deemed not as important in the priority list for those who got paid.

That's unfortunate but ioi could still pay them a small percentage of the proceeds he makes from here.

I'd love to see how much this site makes on a monthly/yearly basis. I know it's value is in the millions. It's pretty gross that he doesn't pay them, and speaks to his character. Even a pittance for their work is better than jack shit.

I work in online media management,  specifically in online advertising on websites and social media. The quality of adverts on the site isn't great,  but the quantity is. The hits the website gets is significant.

Yes the site is probably worth over a million,  multiple in fact and an investor could but it and with the right resources turn this place into a pretty lucrative business.  However value of site does not equal what he has made.  He has still made a lot though,  certainly enough to pay the mods.

And considering this is the moderator thread i think it's worth highlighting.  only problem is ioi likely won't ever read it.

And even if I'm not a mod, if ever you guys need help coaching a difficult user that you might be ready to give up on, I wouldn't mind helping out and volunteering in that way. At least I could give it a try and see where it goes and let you guys know, then you could judge the outcome yourselves.

I wish I'd get coaching. I am still waiting for a response to the question if calling someone a mooncalf is okay.

This appears to be a match made in heaven. :)

I've tried to "coach" some users myself I guess, but they've been pretty apathetic about it

As a member of the House of El, I get regularly coaching anytime I post something I shouldn't have :D

It usually starts with "You really want to get banned, don't you?"

That's just how it is. Coaching can and does only work in a small minority of cases. Most people are lost causes.

Hey Rol, remember that I've sent you PMs too

Because you are going back and forth between liking and not liking me, and don't have a full understanding. But no worries, I'll coach you.

Maybe you should identify why he doesn't like you on occasion? I've done so with some users I previously had taken issue with, and it worked wonders.

It's not that I go back in forth between liking and disliking you, it's that I want to like you, but you say and do things that make me question whether or not you're someone who I can just have a nice, pleasant conversation with. I like just having some good chit-chat. Now, I guess you can coach me if you really want to, whatever that entails, but I think Vivster may be a person who's more willing to take up your offer

He thinks that I am condescending at random.

Well, I've seen you admit to a condescending air in the past, stating it isn't always sincere condescention. That level of openness would help maintain a coach, rather than just allowing them to think you're being a jerk.

Ooooh that's gotta hurt. It's like telling a girl you're dating you like her,  but you prefer her classmate instead xD
