Even if there was mods, you can't reasonably expect any mod team, regardless of its size, to be able to read everything that is posted in the forums and comment sections.

The most rational thing to do is to report comments that you feel are breaking rules and leave the rest to the moderators.

But the whole point of this thread is to provide feedback to the mod team

I know. But let's just say this feedback isn't realistic?

Unless what you have in mind is to ask for being made a moderator (hence the insistence on the "grow you team size" part, I really don't see how you thought that through.

It isn't realistic adding new members to the team?

A bigger size team isn't necessarily required, if the team in place is already more than capable of getting through the current flow of reports.

The best thing for you and the rest of the community to do, is to use the report button.

But it's also been over a year since the last mod recruitments, and as a result of that there haven't been new members to freshen things up and bring new perspectives.

The Team agrees that we have a good amount of us now. More mods also opens up the door for inactivity, which would lessen it in the long run anyway.

Well, isn't the mod team also a part of the community? I can't confirm because we haven't had a vote/survey on it, but if most users agreed that there should be new mod applications, would you guys take that into consideration?

I'm not going to apply to be a moderator myself, I doubt I'd even make the team anyway.

We are handling many more questionable posts from people now than we were 12 months ago.

We noticed that our efforts were severely lacking in political discussion and we made an effort to rectify that. While certain things from 15, 16 or early 17 may have flown under the radar, you'll find that these days we are dealing with many more problematic people.

The problem is down to mods not reading every single post in every single thread, along with members not actually reporting things they see.

Very much this last part, I can't tell you how many times I've heard from users about how they can't be bothered to report a comment or post that goes against the rules, yet complain that action isn't being taken.

Whether a reported comment gets you the instant gratification of a moderation in response to it is irrelevant. It builds us build a case or helps give us an idea of where resources need to be applied on the forum, whether or not that report gets acted upon. Repeated and consistent reporting of comments helps give us eyes where me may otherwise not be currently looking, because as Carl said, we can't be reading every post in every thread at all times.

Well I got a warning for 2 reports I made recently. A poster who I won't mention to avoid controversy (although Carl will probably name him anyway). The poster had called out 2 users who were not actually present in the thread. I made 2 quick reports under the assumption he was shit talking them. I didn't know the backstory so wasn't 100% sure whether he was entitled to or not.

Anyway long story short I get a warning from Carl saying I'm trying to pull the wool over their eyes to get this guy banned and some other reason I can't remember. Doesn't sound like the mod team are too open to certain users flagging potential posts. As I said to him I've not exactly been making 10 reports per day.

Two things. Firstly I just want to say that you, Kerotan, are a liar. Secondly, of course I'm going to name the person you were reporting, because it's key to the case. If you want to complain about things like this, I'm going to be very open with what happened and what was said.

This is the thread - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=234978

You reported OTBWY twice, for the following reasons.

1) "Flaming lawlight. Shouldn't be name dropping him like that." - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8739838#content

2) "Calling out Pinkie_pie. Second time in this thread he calls out a poster." - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8740601#content

Now in your post you say that these users weren't actually present in the thread. This is why you're a liar. Not only were they participating in the thread, but they were directly participating in discussion about apparent stock shortages.

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8738785
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8738784

Proof of Pinkie_pie -

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8738062
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8738936
http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8739898

------

As I said to you in the warning, I can think of only 2 reasons why you would be reporting those posts. 1) You're trying to fool the mod team into thinking OTBWY is calling out Lawlight and Pinkie_pie while they're not participating in discussion, specifically around shortages in that thread, or 2) you're really just ignorant on the what's allowed on the forums. The warning will serve as a reminder of what is and isn't acceptable in reports.

Reporting legitimate problems is fine. Repeatedly abusing the report function on a specific user when they've done nothing wrong isn't fine.

Maybe someone wants to pick up my idea of a badge for most reports that led to a moderation?
