If any of the Wii U ports to Switch are confirmed I will definitely hate Nintendo.

If you got burnt by Nintendo is that a valid reason to hate the Switch? Im a WiiU victim so i kind of want blood.
What did I start?
The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

You already do. Your thread showed that clearly as well as the fact that you don't care about any rational comments people gave you, you still ride your horse.

He was talking about Federation Forces, trying to bullshit us that fans were wrong about Splatoon and that they are wrong with Federation.
"Take for example Splatoon, he said. Splatoon, a new sort of shooter unveiled at last year's E3 based on an entirely new IP, didn't receive an entirely positive reaction at the show. At least not initially. "Splatoon is a game that people are loving right now, but if you rewind to E3 last year, Splatoon was being viewed as, 'Yes, it's innovative and it's different, but the controls are a little hard and I don't understand the mechanic of turning into a squid and going through the ink.' There were all of these complaints. But now you look at the finished product and the satisfaction is huge." "
1) First of all, never heard any NIntendo fans talk badly about Splatoon, especially not as much as federation. Second of all, we asked for like 10 years to Nintendo to give us something in the line of a competitive shooter, and now he goes on and tries to say that we needed to be convinced?
2) I mean it's typical Nintendo: " fans don't know anything, we (Nintendo) are always right, we don't care about your opinion, here is another game with mario doing some kind of sports, buy it. F zero? Starfox? Metroid? The interest isn't high enough for these IPs. See we released an awful Metroid and crappy Starfox, both sold poorly, we were right all along! Now go buy the last kirby game that plays exactly the same as the onereleased on SNES 25 years ago" 3) Seriously, I'm out, buying a PS4pro with Horizon, they can shove Animal Crossing and Mario Sport Mix into the throats of their loyal "fans", I had 15 great years with Nintendo, 5 ok ones, and 5 bad, not signing for 5 more. |
1) Honestly, I never heard anybody say something negative about the controls in Splatoon, either. I really don't know where he got that from. In fact, the only complains I remember where coming from shooter fans critisizing the lack of voice chat. But look at Splatoon now, 99% don't give a fuck about it because the game is build so it doesn't need one. And honestly, I prefer it that way by a mile. If I look at other communities, I can safely say that Nintendo made the right decision:
2) Then you critisize them milking it's franchise, but why don't you critisize all others as well? It's not like we get Last of Us 2 just because Naughty Dog wants to make their fans happy. All companies try to create long lasting franchises that can be exploited. But the way I see it, this may be just me, is that Nintendo doesn't exploit them just to make a quick a buck, but rather to test new ways of gaming. It's up to you to like that or not. You don't owe them anything and if you don't like their experiments, they are not forcing you to buy them. On the other hand, most other companies rehash all the same old stuff because they play it safe. They have much less innovation in their games. Nintendo knows that it could farm much more money in the short run, but their goal isn't quick cash. This is something that many gamers either don't know or refuse to accept. But you're a veteran, Max, you probably knew that.
3) Bye, happy gaming, best wishes.
| Ljink96 said: No. The people that are unhappy with Nintendo are gamers who want Nintendo to do another vanilla 8th gen console. 8GB of ram, 1.5+ TF, etc. and Switch won't be that device. So it won't necessarily be able to run games like Red Dead 2 or ME:A, They want Nintendo to "get with the times" which I agree with to a point with their account service and voice chat, but they want Nintendo to go the full mile and make a console disguised as a PS4 Pro and that's simply not what Nintendo is interested in doing. Haters gonna hate, simple as that. Even if Nintendo blows it out of the water on the 12th, people will still find ways to spin it negatively. |
I honestly can't think of why people hate on Nintendo as they do. I personally don't hate Nintendo and their offerings but I find myself so incredibly indifferent to what they offer, in terms of software and hardware.
I'm a Sony fan, probably considered a fanboy, but there are definitely some Xbox/MS games I would like to try (gears of war, forza, cuphead.) You can call the PS4 vanilla but it's success and more casual appeal has allowed it to bring more diversity and experiences in their games than the Wii U could ever bring.

The Splatoon was typical PR from Nintedo. They make a strawman and attack it. Nobody's going to question Reggie anyway.
Nintendo tests new gameplay with their in-house games, all the outsourced games are just made for a cash-in. There's Mario and Mario that, and even the NSMB series have turned into cash-ins.
Ei Kiinasti.
Eikä Japanisti.
Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.
Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

I hate the controls of Splatoon. The controls (or lack of options) is the reason to this day I do not own the game. If they offered pointer controls, I would have purchased it immediately.

There are plenty of legitimate reasons to be displeased with Nintendo, I think we should be wary of writing off all criticism as "hate".

1) That generalisation doesn't work. Metroid Prime for example was an outsourced game and it was a huge experiment since it switched the perspective. Luigi's Mansion 2 for example is a game that mostly sticks to the same formula as it's predecessor, so no experminets here. There are examples on both sides.
2) Okay, Mario is a cash cow. Undeniable.
