If you count every threat and act of violence; hundreds. Possibly close to a thousand. Serious crime? Nothing really, but I've been more lucky than anything else not having been injured all my years working security.

Nothing I can think of right now.
Never been a victim of a serious crime.

None that I know of.

Mugging with gun involved once
Hit and run
Someone used my bank account for their cable tv subscription
Camera stolen on holiday

This all happened in Europe, I've been crime free since I moved to Canada.

Had a bike stolen from outside a shop, got it back later that same day undamaged.
Had an altercation with a group of scumbags on the street once Several Vs 2 of us, was many years ago but still recall getting a bit hurt from it, including a punch to the face by a person wearing a ring, left a nasty gash, caught one of these guys alone at a later date and dragged his face along a wall a bit, don't think it was the one with the ring, but I felt a heck of a lot better after that, never had issues from the group after that point.

Those were both before I turned 20, so yeah at least 13 years ago. Been a decent decade since then.

Ive had a bike stolen.... thats about it.

Live in a small town where everyone knows everyone. You dont really need to lock doors (house or car)... you could probably ask your neighbor if you could borrow their car and they d let you ect.

I dont really think we have serious crime here.

I've had my businesses broken into ... I guess six or seven times. Which is actually the freaking worst, as break-ins almost always do more in the way of property damage than you lose in merchandise and you have to get up at 3am when the police call and stay on guard until you can find someone to repair your door/window/wall the next day.

That's nice.

May I ask where exactly?

I'm from Chicago. 2016 ended with 746 homicides.

I hope to live in a place like that one day. It all depends on my wife. She likes this area too much and wants to remain closer to her parents.

Move to scandinvia, and pick any small town, and its probably like that.

Im danish, however I know its not like this everywhere in denmark.

Eg our capital has alot higher crime rates than small towns out in the country side does.

*edit 1:  I had to google danish + homicide rates.. and first link I clicked had

"In 2012, Denmark had a murder rate of 0.8 per 100,000 population.[1] There were a total of 47 murders in Denmark in 2012"

Our country is pretty small though, like 5.6m only.

Our society really doesn't have much crime, at all. People should appreciate it more.

this.

People always talk about the USA as being mega dangerous, but the majority of people go day to day for their WHOLE lives without being attacked or involved in crime. Its hot spots where the big crime numbers pop up. like, yeah, if you live in Detroit or something it's probably highly likely if you walk outside for a while that you'll get mugged.

but the majority of places? not at all. Part of it is luck, sure. In the end its a no brainer though- if someone is worried about crime don't live in a seedy cheap end of a city (or certain cities at all).

I think it is SOMEWHAT helpful to have a lot of cops around as people do seem somewhat nervous about violating others.

I can't imagine what it's like to live in some parts of Asia or Africa though, there are certain places in the world where the murder and assault rate (by both civilians and government) is insanely high D:
