Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Will the Scorpio own the PS4Pro in EVERY hardware category?

Form factor, weight, harddrive technology/speed, controller, and very possibly CPU (whether for lower price or better compatibility. Especially since they mentioned "6TFlops" and faster memory a million times but never said anything about CPU other than 8-core).

GPU and memory bandwidth are confirmed to be faster/more-powerful, but given that it's releasing a year or more after PS4P and that the focus is on being more capable, they better be at the very least.

Personally, the only reason I might get a Scorpio is if there is enough multiplatform console only games that I care about that look significantly better on Scorpio compared to a PS4 Pro. Ah, but then I would have to deal with those terrible LB/RB buttons on the XB1 controller.

It won't win Form Factor! Scorpio will be larger than the ps4 pro!

Of course, Sony is a hardware company!

The point is that library size doesent seem very important outside a forum duscution.

It's important because if you're a gamer who's interested in anything but major western AAA games there's one system that is at an enormous disadvantage when compared to another.

Yes, PC.

How did mods let the discussion in a hardware thread let go for several pages with list wars?

I'm reading the list of all the upgrades OP listed.  12gb of GDDR5 and new GPU/CPU?  I don't want to complain about a company releasing an improved product, especially when the XBoxOne could benefit from it, but two things:

Release date and price.

All those upgrades and redesigns are going to bloat an already pricey hardware config unless MS expects this console to exist past a PS5 launch.

If configured how OP listed the MSRP is going to be $599.  Of course the costs will come down over time but also at the expense of likely allowing Sony to begin the next console generation unopposed.

let me know how you see it. On one hand I'm a fan of more and better but I don't see a budget busting console serving Microsoft well at this time.

Sadly not many people buy consoles based on the hardware specifications.
MS has a miserably weak lineup of exclusives for the future and not much in the way of 3rd party marketing deals either.

With Sony already having marketing rights and bundles with all the big 3rd party titles such as Resident Evil 7, Mass Effect Andromeda, Destiny 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Call of Duty, etc. And of course this is mostly due to the fact that all the publishers want to advertise their games with PS4 as that's where the majority of sales come from.

Then Sony has a huge list of exclusive titles both 1st party and 3rd party, while Microsoft's lineup is not only small but also doesn't have anything big, the biggest title they have is Halo Wars 2 which is a spinoff. Crackdown is a very mid tier franchise that can't even compete with something like Ratchet and Clank in terms of popularity. Scalebound, you can say is on the level of a Nier 2, Sea of Thieves looks like a free to play title you can compare to Drawn to Death. Then there's State of Decay 2, and the first one got below average reviews and didn't sell much either, I don't even know why this sequel is getting made.

So how MS plans to advertise the Scorpio is a million dollar question. Unless MS has a dozen odd potential blockbuster titles they're hiding waiting to be revealed at E3 and out the door by year end, Scorpio is going to be dead on arrival.

There are neither over 900 different XBO games in the Xbox marketplace nor over 1400 different PS4 games in the PS Store. Both digital stores have a lot of duplicates in these numbers (standard edition, day1 edition, deluxe edition, ultimate edition...). The PS Store additionally has hundreds of game bundles (2 or more games bundled together, game + dlc bundled together...). Also this stuff:

This way of comparing the game libraries is very flawed.

So unless you clean up both lists of duplicates and emulated arcade games and show us proper lists of PS4 games that aren't on Xbox, it is not very helpful.

You make a good point, the PS4 library is bloated with a lot of junk like you presented. Frankly, the 300+ BC titles on X1 is more noteworthy than much of the PS4 library.

Wikipedia is the best source I know of that lists all games on PS4 and X1.

Wikipedia list is also flawed, it lists games that were mentioned somewhere once and then got offcially or unofficially cancelled and will never see the light of day. Like Phantom Dust for instance.
