Why do you guys want diversity?
Never heard a black person complain about diversity in video games. Never heard anyone complain except white males and politically deranged feminists.

I don't care honestly, but I think that if the developer is able to, they should at least do a minimum of black/white and male/female. Not for every game, but for ones where you explore and grow( Pokemon, skyrim, MMO's, etc.)

Diversity is a bit of a red herring as it can mean many things. When it's used today, it's usually used in the context of positive discrimination and it is not linked to quality, talent, merrit etc.

Diversity is not good by default and the concept that it is is a lie sown by people who have an agenda. This lie is then puppeted by average individuals with virtual signal complex who are inherrantly good people who want to do good things.

That's where it ends though. Diveristy, should be justified, not explicitly to me or anyone inparticular but for the context in which it is being pushed for.

This isn't really diversity as in the meaning of today as I think people are replying to this thread.

I agree with you, in MMO's, RPGs and the like then absolutely it shouldn't be just some white guy to choose from provided the choices are made for the sake of the quality of the game and not to appease anyone for political and social reasons.

What I'm completely against is this forced diversity where the increase in diversity is not being made based on market force but political force.

so adding some non-white chicks/dudes is politically-forced agendas?

Depending on the reasons you do it, yes it's.

Sure have more ugly people too then, lol. Mario/Luigi aren't exactly supermodels though either.

Though even in this respect gaming is normalizing a bit, Lara Croft looks more like a regular person than a walking set of tits as in the 90s.

No, now she looks like an actual supermodel compared to the PS1 days.

Edit: And apparently real human beings can have big tits.

I think the funniest thing is that so many SJWs think Lara had big tits in the early Tomb Raider games cuz objectification. When the reality was it used less polygons and so was a technical design choice that the games artwork then adapted to.

What games are people playing that all the protagonists are white males? Maybe your game choice is more the issue than the industry itself.

And considering anime characters white, is people  with racial insecurities projecting. Most anime characters are Asian. Shock horror Asian skin tones can be pale too. But people have such a gripe with the "white man" that they tell anime artists their characters are white and they just don't realise they are viewing white people as superior.

This thread is so full of wtf.

Don't such games already have character creation at the very start? Maybe except Pokémon, but we already know Nintendo is such an evil white supremacist patriarchal company. I mean look at their disgusting attitudes towards women. /S

it's no the skin colour which makes people assume anime characters are white. It's their other characteristics which give off a western appeal. People like Jojo, Naruto, or Edward(Full Metal) are meant to not look like Asian characters. In my opinion though, I usually associate characters with where they're from in their own world- Edward in Germany, Naruto from leaf Village, and Jojo from wherever the heck he is. If they're going to live in a fantasy world, why waste our time deciding what their race is if it isn't specified?

Have I put the incorrect lack of diversity rhetoric to bed? I think I have.

She had big tits because 15-year-old boys like big tits, I should know, I was kinda the target audience of said game. Same with Tifa's bouncing tits in Final Fantasy VII.

Oversized fake tits were all the rage in the 90s anyway. Doubt there wasn't a straight teenager around who didn't jerk it to Pamela Anderson's Playboy spreads on the regular.

I think media should represent a diverse cast whenever possible, but shoehorning token black guy or token asian girl just feels off. It can be a valid criticism if a cast of all white or all black have multiple characters that have the same arc or behave in the same way. Still, i'm not entirely sure how to approach the situation, i'd just leave it at make a diverse cast (in both ethnicity and personality) whenever possible and where it feels natural but don't compromise th e vision of the movie just to have diversity.
