I don't think this is people hating on it just because it's microsoft. I own all the consoles and I think Phil Spencer has said some great things. I don't really agree with the "it's not from the bottom of his heart" argument because, as long as someone as big as him is saying such things, it's still changing the industry in some minute ways.

But this is something that depending on how you look at it is really hypocritical, and on the contrary, I don't think we should give him a past because he's said good things in the past.

How is it hypocritically when all he timed exclusives and timed DLCs on XB1 this gen were set up before he became head of xbox?

Because he represents Xbox, he's talking down to his competitor sony. He can't just say "Oh well that's not my problem....that's not ME."

It would be a bit more acceptable if they hadn't done it in like a year or two, or if they did it only last generation, but ffs they just released Dead Rising 4. He is criticizing Sony from the perspective of the xbox brand, his excuse can't be "wasn't me bruh".

All I want from Xbox is more exclusive games and reboots of the IPs they're sitting on. The more games you have the less "buying 3rd party exclusive content/DLC" is an issue. That's what's driven PS3 through the difficult days last gen.

Bring back Perfect Dark and Conker.

You should really put the whole twitter exchange up...

What he's overall saying isn't wrong, and people just jumping to conclusions as usual.

Seems to tbe the usual outcome on here. Spencer speaks up, guns pointed his way. Kaz or anyone else speaks up, pats on the back all around.

The other thing to note, is that the competition is just as bad with said practices and no one is chastising them for it, only Spencer since he spoke up. The insignificant excuse of "they started it first", has no power anymore, not when the competition is doing it in full swing.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

@bananaking21, can't u read he is talking about about dlc content and u bring up a full game. If u Wana play that game , how about street fighter 5, I can name some more if u want.
But if shu said this u would not have a Damn problem with it right . Because it's a sony person saying , that's a fact....

You really think if a Sony guy said this, people would be cool with it? Being that blatantly and openly hypocritical? Come on, man. You're projecting......

Xbox fans, pick your battles. There's no defending Phil in this instance.

Even if you're OK with buying/renting exclusive content, there's no denying Phil's hypocrisy on the subject.

Tomb Raider was announced as multiplat and Phil was already the head of xbox so he was the man who made that deal... DR4 might be true because they could made it before xbox one launch for DR3 and DR4.

Actually the announcement trailer can only be found on the Xbox youtube and Tombraider youtube. It says nothing about coming to PS4. Also.Tomb Raider DE had a MS push/marketing and when Riise of the Tomb Raider started development it was during Mattrick so its safe to say it was Mattrick that got the deal.

When games are exclusive to Xbox, they make sure you know it's exclusive to Xbox. When Rise of the Tomb Raider was announced at that E3, there was no such "exclusively on Xbox" or "playable first on Xbox" after the trailer. And then, on the Xbox E3 page, it wasn't under "blockbuster exclusives" amongst Sunset Overdrive, Halo 5, and Crackdown . It was under "Featured Games", which was a bunch of multiplats, like Assassin's Creed: Unity, CoD: Advanced Warefare, and Destiny.

http://www.xbox.com:80/en-US/e3/xbox-one-games">Coupled with the fact that the exclusivity wasn't actually announced until 2 months later at a different event, and, well.....all we have a speculation, but it seems like some backdoor deal was made in the span of time between E3 2014 and Gamescom 2014.

edit: I don't know why my link showed up weirdly. Here's what I wanted to show

Well you ignored what i said about Dead Rising 4. When it was announced we didnt know if it was timed or not.

Edit- Tomb raider was announced as timed exclusive at Squares Confrence.

Wow that's crazy. DLC exclusivity announced 3 years before release.

Whats more crazy is that the game got announced 3 years before release lol.

That's not that crazy when it comes to MS this gen.

Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown 3, Phantom Dust, Fable Legends all were announced 3 years or more before release, or were cancelled.

MS is basically on Square Enix levels this generation in terms of incompetence when it comes to finishing games.
