Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why is everyone freaking out about the Switch?

I think that most of people that are freaking out are people who had no intention to buy Switch on 1st place, people who dont like Nintendo consoles/games, that saying Switch is so weak compared even to XB1. But also we have some unrealistic expectations even from some Nintendo fans that Switch will be close to power to XB1, even rumors are pointing power of around Tegra X1. In any case we are talking about hardcore gamers, but reality is that most of potential Switch buyers clocs features don't change anything.

Remember that dude that was freaking out about people freaking out because the PS4pro didn't play 4k BDs? Should had played games instead.

The Switch is a lot weaker than the rumors we've been hearing for months now, of course there's going to be some backlash.

The Nintendo fan community honestly needs to check itself a little bit. This is now the third straight time we've had wildly unrealistic expectations for hardware. This cycle we went from

1.) It's going to be Polaris for sure 2.5 TFLOP minimum performance, AMD has 3 custom design wins, 1 has to be Nintendo. Gaurunteed.

2.) OK so it's Nvidia, but we're still getting reports that docked it's as powerful as a PS4. At least close to an XBox One.

3.) Not even as powerful as Nvidia Shield console from two years?

I hope next time people don't fall for this same thing again, it's been the same thing with Revolution (graphics will be better than XBox 360, no HD? don't worry graphics will be just the same as PS3 just in SD resolution) and Cafe/Wii U.

well, I think nobody really expected it spec wise to be this close to the WiiU

for a handheld thats very commendable though and because it doesn't need to render a 2nd screen, features much newer architecture and gets a good gpu boost while docked (I expect this to be used primarily for higher resolution display) games should look quite a bit nicer overall

now this very much depends on pricing - at $200 this is a hit, especially once it gets a real main-line Pokémon, but at $300 this looks much less enticing

Everyone's not freaking out, just Millennials doing their stereotypical theatrical whining and panicking over every little thing, right before going back to taking pictures of food.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Stop making threads about it dude for starters

Anyone who is bitching about power and hardware and all that silly stuff didn't want to get the console in the first place. People are just looking for stuff to complain about, because haters gonna hate. Anyone who is that desperate for power and grfxx gets a PC anyways. My rig runs circles around the PS4 Pro.

Then there's the "But wut about teh 3rds?!" folks. Who are also just bitching about nothing really. Of course you won't find the same games as on PS4 and X1 on the Switch, that was never the point of the console. Nintendo chose a different path. Nobody is forced to like that, but it's stupid to cry about that they aren't making a new PlayStation, we already have 2 of those. Nintendo Switch will have more than enough 3rds. Did the 3DS lack third Party Titles? I can't complain.

Ok, lastly there are the people who are saying "I want just one console, so I NEED Third Party titles!" Fair enough, go get yourself a PC or a PlayStation then, seems like the better option for you. What's the point in bitching about Switch? Most people are able to use two platforms just fine. But if you really only want one or can afford just one, just get whatever the hell suits your personal preference best. Variety is actually a good thing, you know. With that there is something for everybody.

If I would care about power I would have never gotten a PS4 or X1. What use should I have even for the Pro or Scorpio when my GTX 1080 with 9 Teraflops is declassifying those consoles? Well, the use is in the games. I really like some of the PS4 titles running on dat piss-poor 1.8 TF hardware. Not once did I care about the graphics. I have absolutely no doubt I will also enjoy many titles on the Switch, despite it's power that barely surpasses a potato.

At the end of the day, it should be all about the games. Hardware doesn't matter so much. If the games are good, I'll get any hardware you throw at me. Hell, despite me owning that monster of a 1080, you know what I do most of the time? I play on my laptop with a Geforce GTX 960M. Really poor GPU in comparison, just barely stronger than the X1. But I still prefer it many times because of convenience. Then again, I only have my super-fast PC because of my job, it was never really intended for playing games. But there's also nothing stopping me from using it for that. =P

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

The only ones who are freaking out are the ones who really don´t want to see the possibilities that the Switch brings, even if its underpowered.

Having all Nintendo games in a single device that work both as a home and a portable console is a great idea.

People should remember that the market is not made only by home consoles. There´s still a huge audience for portable gaming - otherwise the 3ds wouldn´t keep selling so well after 05 years in the market - and the Switch aims to appeal to every gamer as they wish
