So how much will the Switch weight without the JoyCon controllers? 300 - 400 grams? Or even more?
Even a 200g phablet has an uncomfortable weight distribution in a Google cardbord box.
Nintendo Switch to have VR: the gamepad is also a VR screen. | |||
| Cool idea. | 79 | 56.43% | |
| Bad idea. | 61 | 43.57% | |
| Total: | 140 | ||

| d21lewis said: My only worry is if this is true (and I doubt it) cheap, shitty VR will turn people off to the idea of good VR! There's a huge difference in immersion between watching a 360 degree VR video and playing a VR game. Not even comparable. |
With the PSVR more and more people will expierence real VR in the next months (it already happens). The demand is incredible with PSVR beeing sold out for 2 months in a row in most countried and Sony not even beeing able to supply xmas demands.
Its basically a circle of doom haha => People get it => their friend try it out => their friends want it and get it => the friend of the friends try it out => Want and get it => and so on ;)
I doubt we will still playing on television in 2020. VR is just to much better. It wont replace the television compeltly (like the television wanst able to replace the radio completly) but it will be the next big thing.
Nintendo Switch and VR makes no sense. Even the highest end screens are not good enough. Doubt that the Switch will have a high end screen.
For a true shot at the mass market we need smaller lighter headsets with dual 4k OLED Screens and 130 FOV. Anything that the Switch could deliver would be more on the Level of the DK1 which was an experimental Device not fit for most people to use.

uhm did you ever used current VR devices=?
The PSVR as an example looks pixel whise similar to the 480p screen on the Wii U Gamepad or to the iPhones before they got their retina display.
Sure there is still much room for improvements and 4k would be nice (to have retina like optics in VR) but its far from "makes no sense or not good enough". Its totally useable and just a few years ago we just used devices that looked exactly the same in our daily lifes and not many really bothered
If the switch uses a 1080p rgb screen I dont see any problems. 720p might be little to low thoug, I would agree here. But we definitly dont "need" 4k screens. its nice to have though.
A friend of mine got the PSVR day one. He posted relentlessly on Facebook about how it was the best thing he'd ever experienced. Two weeks later he ebayed it after admitting it was just collected dust. Said it was too much hassle to play - the novelty wore off very quickly and after about 10 minutes the head gear starts to feel pretty uncomfortable. So basically i really don't care about VR support for switch!

Yes I used them I bought an Oculus Rift CV1 as soon as it released and used the DK1 and 2 when they launched. The CV1 has of all the three consumer Vr headets which I used extensively the best resolution yet its still far from good. We absolutely NEED dual 4ks for VR to get somewhere.

Obviously lying. The Rift has exactly the same display as the Vive.
The PSVR has the lowest SDE on all devices.
Why do people keep lying? I dont get it

So if something is sold out in almost every country for 2 month in a week and the company isnt even able to supply xmas demand, thats considered "plummeted" now a days? Alright.
Also you obviously never used VR. Its definitly ready for gaming (and lots of other things yet).
Its like going from a Radio (only audio) to a television (audio and video) in terms of enternainment. Thats how big the gap is.
I doubt the switch will be capable enough for decent VR though. |
Again, before you try to read people, have your facts ready. I go to a university with 2 HTC Vives, 2 Rifts, and now 1 PSVR. I've played VR. Sales suck for the device, even PSVR. It isn't ready for mass gaming. Software isn't benefiting on VR, the only thing benefitting is the adult entertainment industry. I have to study these emerging technologies as I don't know, it's PART OF MY COLLEGE MAJOR.

So you dont like VR but tried it at all 5 times and just want VR porn?
Very believeavle ;)
If you would really had played Xwing VR Mission, you would have known thats its impossible to play a flat Xwing game with a "through a windows look" ever again.
Unfortunaly I wanst even able to play Star Wars Battlefronts Rogue Ones DLC I had purchased with the season pass.
You could simply check amazon ratings to see how many people probl bought it and if they like it. VR has started and will replace TV in many cases in the next few years. In 2020 its very likely already as big as normal gaming is right now.
And once again. Sales cant be bad if they sold all units in the past 2 months. Thats not possible. Sales couldnt be better.
Which games have you played and whats the name of you university? Just to check your credibility ;)
