With the PSVR more and more people will expierence real VR in the next months (it already happens). The demand is incredible with PSVR beeing sold out for 2 months in a row in most countried and Sony not even beeing able to supply xmas demands.
Its basically a circle of doom haha => People get it => their friend try it out => their friends want it and get it => the friend of the friends try it out => Want and get it => and so on ;)
I doubt we will still playing on television in 2020. VR is just to much better. It wont replace the television compeltly (like the television wanst able to replace the radio completly) but it will be the next big thing.
