All good answers.

This is good. This is good.

I made a big post a while back (in the mod thread I think?) about how being positive all the time is counterproductive in a forum. Only negativity brings discussion. Arguments are not arguments if there aren't counter arguments. If everyone agrees with each other there is no discussion and as such the forum has failed its only function.

Destroying circlejerks is one of the most important and also most fun activities in a forum.

I go to say, ps4 pro vs pc threads to make sure there isn't any spread of miss-information even though I don't really like them since the comparison itself isn't fair nor is it done right.

I rarely go into threads trying to downplay a certain product. Sometimes my wording can be aggressive but only if the miss-information is that horrible. Or I go into it critizing a certain decision. I do think some people (not u) don't understand the difference between downplaying and criticizing though.

With that being said, some people do downplay frequently and those are just :T

I'd say there are two reasons.

1) because you're genuinely disappointed or concerned about a particular series, developer, or trend, and you're eager to express your feelings.

2) because you're insecure about your own opinions and/or want to provoke an emotional response from other fans.

The problem is that it's sometimes difficult to tell the difference in this community.

I know a couple of people that really fit the second one perfectly, infact I know if I make a movie thread. My case has always been the first one, might be why I am vocal about my annoyances of things like MGS4 and Final Fantasy 13. I want it to be better.

@ option 1; rarely is that the case

@ option 2; the case 90% of the time

To be fair, the second option is also 90% of the people just coming to say positive things. We're all the same.

1) Genuine interest. Simple as that. Just because Nintendo has heavily dissapointed me in the past doesnt mean its hasnt made me happy in the past, so im interested in what direction they take.

2) Because expressing dissapointment is just as important as expressing excitement. That doesnt mean people are "Insecure" or feel the need to troll. Different opinions only make for a richer discussion.

Telling people to not go into threads of games they don't like is just furthering the fanboy's agenda and trying to create "a safe space" for them. A circlejerk echochamber is just as bad for the gaming community at large as are toxic haters.

Guess why there are so many bans on this site, because fans cannot function outside of their safe space anymore and will press the ban button at the slightest hint of negativity. And of course our fine mods will kindly oblige because being negative about a thing that others are positive about is a crime against humanity. (except when it isn't because reasons)

What we need is a balance that will filter out both echochambers and haters. Removing just one of them will do us no good. But don't worry, I will always do my best to uphold this balance and I encourage people to do as well.

100% agreed.

God bless You.

My Total Sales prediction for PS4 by the end of 2021: 110m+

First reason is that I have to because I'm a moderator.

Secondary reason is as Vivster said. This a forum, and not an FC, and so discussion is essential. Sure, some users take it too far, but opinions shouldn't be censored for being negative.

Third reason is when an OP might be drawing an implied comparison. First reason aside, if I see a thread talking about Naruto, I'll do my best to ignore it and hope it dies quickly. If I see a thread claiming Naruto as the greatest anime/manga series over the past decade, I'll get triggered enough that I'll feel compelled to say something.

I'm probably missing the point...so forgive my ramble.

Hate is a strong word; I don't play on Xbox, but I don't wish to break one with a hammer, nor wish death on the people who play on it.

Jokes aside, *shrug* I'm bored I guess, and I just need to browse whatever people post?

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Sometimes, there is no point. Just a question and some interesting answers.
