Seems like a case by case thing to me. Some games would definitely benefit from having access on the go, but I think I'll tend to swing PS4 on most cases by default just for the likely visual improvements and trophy support, it's the only ecosystem I've really gotten invested in, and I doubt that'll change even if Nintendo comes up with their own achievement system.

This is also a good point, and something I think Nintendo is trying to remedy with the Switch and My Nintendo specifically. Sony, Microsoft, and Valve all have head starts when it comes to forming account-based relationships with their consumers.

I think that My Nintendo will be prominently built into the UI of the Switch, but like you suggest, it's not really going to take anyone away from an ecosystem someone is already invested in. I do think it will give them some leverage with those consumers though, especially when it comes to buying indie games because of Gold Coins.

I think thats the only way nintendo can introduce an achievement system this late in the game and even begin to pull people away from their ecosystems. My trophy count, while modest compared to many, still represents years of work and a lot of money, it'd be hard for me to not want to continue working on it. Obviously ahievements dont matter to everyone though, and it's probably a moot point to a lot of people haha

It all depends really.

I cant say before what system I will get it for if I dont know the facts. A combination of the following:

* Performance: Is it A LOT better on one system clearly, that is the system to buy it for
* If it has multiplayer: Obviously the system where my friends play it as well
* Is it something I would play on the go?
* We dont know yet what the Switch actually has to offer, some games might just give another experience since it has it's hybrid thingy
* Exclusive content would matter

A combination of all these, if performance is similar I would likely go with the switch since handheld is also a possibility unless there is some sort of massive exclusive contet for another system

I own PC, PS4, will own a Switch a launch and possibly a Scorpio down the road.

Depends on the Switch's capabilities and the game. If it is capable enough, then there are definitely games where portability would appeal to me greatly

I think it is a good idea :)

i usually buy the same game on multi patforms anyway lol. so if its good then sure.

Depends on the game. If it's story focused, I'm more likely to buy it on switch. Especially if I intend to play no multiplayer whatsoever. You won't see me buying a multiplayer heavy game on the Switch. You wouldn't be able to play the multiplayer component when away from home. There's no chance it'll have mobile internet access.

I''m too stubborn to stop buying third party games for my PS4

Depends on which game.

I would buy NBA2K, South Park The Fractured But Whole, and several others if offered on Switch.

But for games that I primarily play at home I'd probably buy the home console version.

It's definitelty a moot point to me, but it would be silly for me to dismiss it's resonance. Apple is able to form strong account-based relationships without achivements though, so I think Nintendo is veering closer to that with their rewards program.

Though it would be cool if playing games earned you Platinum Points that acted as achievements, it would only resonate with people if it was open to third party devs, which I highly doubt will happen. Never say never, though.
