This is a really bad thread.

shit...i thought 350 was expensive...but 400...if the switch comes out at 399.99 with a game...
LMAO game over dude...nintendo you used to rely on your brand but not after you burned 13 million with it.
i guess if you really really wanna play zelda and mario that bad...
| squibbfire said: So what is the switch supposed to be...is it a replacement for the DS. If it is...say that. But..they left so much uncertainty out there...one can only wonder are they just throwing this console out there without a plan? should developers take a chance on it...until they know they are gonna stick with it for more then 4 years...or should they dev for PS4 and Xbone and DS? Most gamers don't wanna get burned on a console they bought 3 or 4 years ago.... |
It's officially a home console, and there's no uncertainty about that at all. It could end up replacing Nintendo's handhelds as well, but we're not there, at least yet. Whatever uncertainty there is is because Nintendo hasn't done the proper reveal yet. Talking about uncertainty before the proper reveal is just stupid. Just in case you missed it, the reveal is coming in about one month. If there's still some uncertainty after that, go ahead and discuss it then.

but will it come with a game.... thats a 50 or 60 doller buy in change... 360 bucks is super high for a mobile buy in even if you get a dock... |
Did you read my post? Seriously, did you? I literally wrote about this issue. No one ever counts the price of a game in there with the price of the console. It's just not done, ever (with the exception of bundles, which are almost never the main SKU to be sold). It's also not a mobile device. It's officially a home console like I wrote above, and everything else is speculation. For all I know, most people getting a Switch are going to be using is mainly as a home console anyway, with portability being a nice plus for many. If it's used as a home console, it'll be treated (mainly) as a home console. Of course for everyone using it mainly as a portable device, the price could be tougher to swallow, but I'm not expecting most people to use it mainly as a portable device.

so...how many consoles do you go out and buy without a game buddy...
299 gets you a ps4 and a game. (when it came out 399 and knack)
299 should get you a switch and a game.
unless you can buy used switch games day one .....lol :-p
I think that, as a platform, it'll blow up on a similar scale as the Wii and the DS. Combined. I also think it'll debut at $250 if the rumors are to be believed.
If this is the case, then I think that the Switch will be symbolic of a much bigger paradigm shift where Nintendo elevates itself next to Apple and Disney as one of the most powerful companies in the world. This is Nintendo's "The Little Mermaid," and it will symbolize the start of a Nintendo Renaissance (which involves way more than just dedicated gaming).
And this cannot be stressed enough, but the mainstream audience are not going to expect PS4-level performance from the Switch because of it's form factor. In fact, they'll be supremely impressed because the Switch will undoubtably be the most sophisticated piece of portable technology for years. It's going to look like a technical marvel because of what it'll do in such a small form factor, and that will resonate with a LOT of people. And it IS well powerful enough to get current gen multiplats, which is all that matters because it's value proposition shining depends on them.
Plus this thing is going to dominate Japan like none before it. I'm talking DS numbers over there at the very least, no doubt. Currently, that's 33m-ish, in Japan alone. I think Switch likely will eclipse that with maybe 40m, because again, it's fulfilling both a portable and a home market, and it will get both types of games. People aren't appreciating that. Consolidating software ecosystem means consolidating both audiences onto one platform. Wii and DS combined did 250m WW. There's obviously going to be a drop from people who typically bought both, but that isn't most consumers. Seeing the entire Switch platform do around 200m WW over the next 10 years wouldn't surprise me at all. Doing less than 150m would.
Of course, this is all IF expensive cart sizes and general storage limitations don't euthanize it, that is.

Holy FEKKIN SHET, Gonna have to bump this in a few years. Either as an insane over-estimation or godlike prediction.

I asked a question in the poll to gage a response.
Then I support assumptions on price with articles. Several.
Sounds like an amazing thread. It's good to see people what people are willing to spend on a switch...

But you've just stopped having discussion, you're just posting articles so then you can make an anti-nintendo statement directed at nobody inparticular such as this.

You're not having a discussion with anyone, you're just taking it as an opportunity to be negative about Nintendo.
