Forums - Nintendo - Miyamoto wants to put more energy into Star Fox, Pikmin

They need to outsource the entire development to someone else. Nintendo should only lightly oversee development. Miyamoto is screwing up Starfox. He has to let the younger generation take it over and do what people expect from a scifi game in 2016+ A mostly hard surface game like Starfox should not have looked that bad on Wii U and the motion controls weren't necessary. Go back to what Starfox was, don't just remake 64 again, just do something new with the story and characters, make solid gameplay a must, and go all out on the graphics department.

Hopefully with Switch, Nintendo utilizes Unreal very often so they can spend less time building engines from the ground up and more time just making games.

I would welcome another Star Fox, even providing a different story following Zero since it's basically a reboot of a reboot so more opportunities to provide new takes on the universe. I'm more favorable of Zero than most of the people here so I wouldn't mind. Now whether it can reignite the on-rail shooter genre is something that may be difficult as FPS and TPS have taken over the overall shooter genre. Sure online multiplayer may help but can it stand out enough to catch people's attention, especially when we got games like Star Wars Battlefront. Even Star Fox 64 3D wasn't able to catch as much interest as it hoped to do despite the overall positive responses to the game.

As for Pikmin, it's kinda hard to see it become more popular as a series. Miyamoto and his team did a great job with Pikmin 3 and his animated shorts appeared to be well received. However, it's still relatively niche and as a strategy survival game, it may be difficult to get more interest beyond the core fanbase.

I don't trust Miyamoto when it comes to working on Star Fox.

If he is gonna work on it, I hope he seriously reconsiders a different direction before trying to tackle the series again.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I think someone else needs to do starfox. Need to let starfox modernize. This is similar to Metroid Prime series. Starfox is one that could be more realistic and be awesome.

Just continue the story, that's all I want

Don’t follow the hype, follow the games

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

What if the Switch one lets each joy con control two part of the ship like double dash in Mario Kart for local on the go co-op? You only need one joy stick to move and a a few buttons like the N64 version. But now one joy con controls ship movement, barrel rolls, u-turns, and somersaults, turning while the other joy con controls the reticule movement, lock on, laser, and bombs.

I get a little ticked off by this.

If this is what you think Miyamoto. Patch the damn Wii U game controls to not be motion control based.

I don't like antagonising him, but the best thing that can happen to these games is for Miyamoto to get well away from them.

Turn it into a Halo clone to put the final nail in Master Chief's coffin.

Well, hopefully we'll see more energy put into the apparent Pikmin 4 game in development, and not the 3DS title either... Also, if he wants Star Fox to be more popular, then he just needs to try again with another new title, perhaps something closer to the 64 one.

Star Fox Switch: Juggle the Joy-Con controllers to control the weapon systems while using the Switch Pro controller with your feet to control movement/camera controls. Thank you based Miyamoto its what I always wanted.
