Nintendo Switch Will Play GameCube Games - Report

That the Switch will play GameCube games through the VC is something of a big move, as the Wii U does not play games from that console. Additionally, it's claimed that there will be an upgrade program where people who bought GameCube games via the VC on an older console can "upgrade" them to the new hardware for a small price.

There is no Nintendo system where GameCube games have ever been made available.  They were talking about an upgrade fee for VC games from NES, SNES, N64, and possibly Wii, though we don't know for sure.  But there's never been a way to download or digitally purchase GameCube games from Nintendo, ever.  So this part of the summary is not accuruate.

The Screamapillar is easily identified by its constant screaming—it even screams in its sleep. The Screamapillar is the favorite food of everything, is sexually attracted to fire, and needs constant reassurance or it will die.

If a game like Melee arrives on the VC and the online added it would be a massive boost for the Melee community as even though S4 dominates the major tournaments like Evo Melee does well in Smash specific tournaments, A VC version with online would allow Melee's scene to continue growing much easier without the problems of finding CTRs and and a copy.

I mean, this is good in general, but not really for me specifically. I want to hear about new games already. It's making me nervous that we have all these rumors but none say much about new experiences.

Odd question but how can they offer discounts on GCN VC games when there are no GCN VC games? It sounds odd and I'd like clarification.

Anyway Wii U can be modded to run GCN games so its really not as big of a deal. It could have happened years ago if Nintendo wanted it. The biggest bummer is that we're going to have to wait on sporadic releases over years hoping for games that may or may not make it.

Like I said in the other thread, really nice though I doubt I will be double dipping.. but the portability is a big plus

Double dip for a portable Symphonia tho stares

pokes Plat.

They should bring the Wii games that don't require motion contols or can be easily patched not to require them as well.

Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!

My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/

My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.

Oooh, I have some games in mind I never got to play back then. Will definitely look into them if they get on the Switch!

Nice start, TTYD would be a great addition too. Give us Eternal Darkness, F-Zero GX, Metroid Prime Trilogy, and Rogue Squadron II+III as well.

It's going to be insane having games from just about every Nintendo system on one console, with the NES-GC library plus older GB/GBA games available through the Virtual Console, and remastered ports of Wii / Wii U titles as well. Hopefully Nintendo finally implements a universal account system so that all your existing virtual console titles are playable on the Switch.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
