Forums - Nintendo - Is Zelda Dead?

Well the OP has a point...zelda is only big as how many console are sold by nintendo...according to vgchartz...not a lot...unless zelda goes multi platform( doubtful) i think its overall fate will be tied into nintendo switch sales. When the word "dead" is used...i usually means irrelevant....

I'm sure it wouldn't be a clean sweep now adays, but story and controls when compared to OOT is still far better. I'm actually trying to find the top LoZ games with the poll we done recently to show Skyward Sword got 3rd in that (I think. Got pretty high overall). If you know where that is please post. It's not a hated game... at all.... on any forum. There are people who dislike it, but it is FAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR from a hated game.

Don't visit the IGN Zelda boards anytime soon. Bringing the game up there will get you run out of town on a flaming wheeled effigy of Fi.

Everything has its haters, people hate OoT, I personally don't like TP. But go to IGN and ask this same question and see what's said. Just because I personally don't like TP, doesn't make it a hated game.

You think Zelda 2 is as good as the rest?

It's a great game. It's an RPG the only Zelda until BoTW that is. It's different is all. It is great tho and funny enough has a lot in common with the Souls games. Parts of it are basically Souls as a side scroller.

There's a lot of revisionism at work here. When Zelda 2 came out, it wasn't hated. People just look back on it now as the "different" one and call it a bad game.  I like it. It's a good, but fairly difficult game.

Yes, Zelda is dead. That is why Breath of the Wild is only the #1 most anticipated game of 2017.

This!

Pocky Lover Boy!

What about Link between worlds? That´s a great Zelda and it´s from 2013 :)

Zelda is dead in the same way as Resident Evil died after RE6, or Final Fantasy after XIII, or Dragon Age after the second game, that is to say, not in any way. One game that you don't like doesn't mean the series is somehow dead as a result.

Didn't finish Skyward dword so I don't know if they killed her off in that one but I very much doubt she is dead. I'm sure she'll be in BoTW.

There is an official timeline.

They are independent games though, in the sense that most of them are centuries apart. So technically Zelda does die.

It would depend which Zelda, and which timeline we are talking about. The Queen of England dies all the time, but still, long live the queen!

*edit* besides, isn't every princess Zelda supposed to be the reincernation of the goddess Hylia?
