Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is looking interesting again for the first time in almost a decade..

Personally, they've become less and less interesting for me over the past two decades or so, the Switch only adds to the same feeling, to be honest. I really, really want to enjoy a Nintendo console again, the last one I owned was a N64, but their quirks and weird solutions and controllers always manage to turn me off, in addition to poor support and tech in the last two generations.

I'm glad OP is feeling it though, I remember you back in the day. It's high time Nintendo's true fans found something to be excited about again.

Maybe some of them didnt want to stick around and eat crow

i disagree, Nintendo has never not been interesting, even when things arent exactly going there way.

Hey, that reminds me: is John Lucas still around?

I praise them when they do stuff I like and I complain when they do stuff I don't like, but my passion for their games that I love will never change.

Probably working on the "240 million Switch sales lifetime" thread as we speak.

While I agree that Switch is what WiiU should have been, I think Nintendo has been consistently interesting for 30+ years, and, moreover, absolutely essential to the gaming industry during that time. Despite the failure of WiiU and the relative disappointment of 3DS, Nintendo has never stopped turning out games with high replay value and local multiplayer options, features that are becoming less and less common.

xenoblade and x kept me interested on nintendo.

Haha, brutal.

I want to believe they are making a comeback, but they've also released trash like SF0, Color Splash and Farce very recently. The new Pikmin looks ugly and boring too. This suggests they still don't understand the consumer.
On the other hand, Zelda looks great and the first Switch trailer was really well made. Their current marketing strategy is more Sony-like but less agressive, which I like. I hope they continue to learn from their mistakes. I guess we will see on January 12.

Hard to say, but I think Nintendo did acknowledge their mistakes and are trying to fix it..
