Forums - Gaming - Your most disappointing game ever?

Splatoon. Bought it at launch, and not enough content for $80 (I live in Canada :P).

Not saying it's a bad game, but the lack of much content at launch REALLY disappointed me.

DLC was all free unlike SFV and now is packed to the brim with content

FF XIII, by a lightyear. For too many reasons to go into detail again - but the most notable two are completely unlikeable (...well, more like hateable) characters and repetitive, boring, oversimplified gameplay.

You know, when you see the perfect post, you know it. Add in linearity, the worst of the worst jpop songs instead of the classic themes that have been recognizable through generations, the complete lack of impact of a final boss and ending, forced party members throughout 99% of the game, the laughable skill tree that was just as linear as the world itself, no interaction with the world around you with the world feeling like more of a backdrop, the pointless paradigm shifts that lock simplistic job skills away from a character, the way the game could perfectly play itself, the laughable crafting system that lacked focus and instead of giving the player notable increased stats for weapons often had players crafting weapons far weaker than the base weapons of the player.... and really unless people want me to go on forever, I'll stick to these major pet peeves.

Sandwich it in with two pay to play MMOs, and 12 (though I did wind up loving 12 later, and the whole Ivalice mythos) and I officially have given up on the series.

True, I think it's a lot better now. But the launch was such a disappointment for me.

Final Fantasy XV

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I think Sticker Star. I was simply devastated at everything besides the visuals and the OST.

Yeah demos left a bad impression on me as well. Laundry list of things that are not right and it's all gameplay.

Compared to my personal expectations?

I'd say The Last of Us. I thought it would be good, great even. It had the developer, it had the word of mouth, it had the reviews, it looked amazing on screenshots and trailers. But then, it just, wasn't good.

Another thing is GTAIV. Played it at someplace else for a bit after my last GTA game being 2, thought it could be fun, but then turened out to be not fun at all. Totally meaningless; you can do everything, but you aren't really doing anything.

Quake 4, I'm a huge Q3A fan and the multiplayer was worse in every aspect. The community didn't grow and went back to Q3A.

Final Fantasy XIII, I heard all the warnings, but still got disappointed. Biggest waste of a AAA budget of all time in my opinion.

Spore, really looked forward to it back then and it was made by the creator of The Sims. Didn't turn out as the game that I expected, it was more like a minigame collection and it wasn't as scientifically correct as they promised it to be. I ended up spending more time with the free character creator than the actual game. Oh, and my first experience with SecuROM.

The original ending of mass effect 3 left me pretty dissapointed. Also I disliked the fact that I had to play MP during SP to get my forces on 100% efficiency.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

The one I always remember is Drakengard for the PS2, it was an RPG with dragons, little old me got all hyped thinking it was the second coming of Panzer Dragoon Saga (well ok I wouldn't go that far) bought it only to be disappointed when it turned out to be a Dynasty Warriors clone.

I'll throw out there Orphen and Summoner, back in the early days of the PS2 coming off the back of some amazing PS1 RPG's, they couldn't hold a candle and at a time when I couldn't get enough RPG's in my life.

Don't ruin the moment
